I think OBAMA gets that award for inserting himself into the incident the way he did, with a racial statement that inflamed tensions. Divisive too...but that's par for the course.

When there are "Wanted Dead or Alive" bounties and people being quoted as saying they need to kill whites over the Trayvon shooting, and the president's only comment is to anecdotally adopt Trayvon as his own son, and not comment on Zimmerman getting the crap beat out of him. Obama's comments were viewed as taking the side of Trayvon, and tacitly approving of the violent words and actions aimed at Zimmerman.

I do believe we are seeing an increase in violence here in the US and it's being fueled for political reasons.
If anything, we all are more aware of the racial divide especially among the poor and ignorant. While we are discussing the problems it never hurts to take precautions to protect our family's safety. If I was black and lived in the black community, I would be concerned about people like Obama creating issues that endangered my life or riled my neighbors. As a white guy, I have the same concerns.
I'd love to be left alone to live in peace. In the mean time, I'll be well armed and aware just in case someone white, brown or black tries to do me harm.
