Do you realize that many parents are already losing their shirts paying for their own children's educations? And you have the unmitigated gall to demand that these people "invest" in you as well?

Well they are actually investing in others too. For instance at the university of Iowa 25% of the tuition folks pay goes to scholarships and free rides for others so it's not your kids you are investing in like it should be. Many don't even realize this.

When has it become in the nation that we do not want to see our children succeed? Do the ceo's and managers of companies realize that one day they will be dead, and who is going to take there positions?

United States needs to wake up and realize that china & japan are whooping our butts because they "GET IT" they are investing in their children.

So basically what you are saying is stop going to school, work at walmart for a year (1 less year of me obtaining valuable experience in my field) with the whole $7.50 they are willing to pay

$7.50*40=300*4months=1200*12months=14400-taxes= down to around 11K-5ktution = 6k yeah sure I could live off 6k a year. That a whole 500$ a month

& thats if Walmart even allows employee's to work 40/hr weeks which i doubt.

So sorry mr. your logic doesn't work.

Just let federal govt control student loans and get these privatize bankers out of it! Because they're filled with greed! tax my loans 6% so they receive that extra $$ to send their children to the best schools. The rich get richer and us people who don't come from money don't stand a chance.
The left uses emotion AND false CLAIMS.

Sorry, IMO, college students are NOT children as the poster claims.

If a 15 year old girl can be considered and adult when it come to getting an abortion without her parents knowledge and consent, 18 year old are not children either.

I am NOT against keeping the interest at the low rate for EXISTING loans in today's world.

I would though, like to see the fed get out of the loan business. The gov't should NOT be competing with private businesses.

We have public, state owned and run, and private colleges. They are NOT fed gov't institutions.

It is just one more example of the fed getting involved in state and private business.

That is the question.
Is it in the best interest of the USA to have people in this country
with college degrees?
Do we need them?
Mabey not. Mabey we can just import people to the USA in the future to fill jobs that
requires a college degree. Why not? We outscource jobs now.
That is the question.
It's not a matter of money, it is a matter of what is best
for the USA as a country and society. Period.
Perhaps a spelling lesson is required.....

"Mabey"
"outscource"

I'm confused. If we are falling behind so much why do we so many foreigners attending our colleges?

The interest rate hikes haven't happened yet. Proposed by an idiot republican.

I do feel for you, college costs have gotten out of control. That is largely due to the greed of the educational industry. They need to loose enrollment due to their excessive costs and bring them back to an affordable level.
College costs are going up for many reasons, but one of them is DEMAND. More people want to go to college than ever, because everyone, including the president, say its imperative for personal and national success. Yet so many graduates don't have a job that can pay enough to repay their loans. The pay just isn't very good for art history, literature, or theology graduates.

So many people would be financially better off if they became machinists instead. They can earn $60K per year in the USA right now.

Tuition will continue to increase, and you'll continue to crank out, um, "college graduates" (and I use the term very loosely) who will owe $Thousands but will be unable to find work (unless they leave the US).

No, not under any circumstances.

None.

All forms of education are expressly under the sole control of the States.

Nyet.

The government has done enough social engineering. Time to give it break for several millennium.

Which part of "you don't have the money" do you all not understand?

You don't have the money for Social Security; you don't have the money for Medicare; you don't have the money for Medicaid; you don't have the money for Obamacare; you don't have the money to keep throwing around.

You will have to choose which programs you want, and which ones you don't.

Choose wisely.

Um, I worked part-time and full-time to pay for both of my degrees, plus graduate school.

I don't consider myself to be anything other than ordinary, so if I can do it, so can others.

Constitutionally...

Mircea

This is the future of America. I'm left scratching my head that this is what our country is producing these days.

That is until the same Repuke party breaks their union and their 60K jobs are given to illegals for minimum wage.
