So this is the latest from wingnutland, DC? This isn't new news. However, the part where you don't want other U.S. citizens to have representation is stunning (well not really).

DC is amply represented by the Congress of the United States, DC's own private little sugar daddy.

I know DC is not a state, it is a district, but I was taught in school (many, many years ago and CRS has set in) that even though it is not a state that in many respects it is a part of Maryland property? For example if you lived in DC and you wanted to contact your state rep, you would contact Maryland rep...right?
Nope. NYC is part of the state of NY. DC isn't part of Maryland. They don't vote for Maryland's senators, and they aren't represented by them. A Maryland senator would have little incentive to represent the interests of DC.

It's only geographically part of Maryland. The Vatican looks like part of Rome, but isn't. Portugal looks like part of Spain, but isn't.

Aww, no I do not want him impeached. That would require the Dem's stirring off their pathetic . . . . Which aint gonna happen.

I am a student of modern American Corporatism. I think we should outsource this to the International community. Ship Bush (and Cheney, Rummy, and Powell) straight to the Hague for War Crimes -- and most of our problems go away.

You want Alexander Hague to prosecute Rummy?

I thought you wanted him strung up for Vietnam!

Oh, you mean have the Euros sit in judgement? Let's see: the Somme, Stalin's kulaks, Buchenwald, Auschwitz, the Katyn Forest massacre, ethinc cleansing in Bosnia -- yeah, they ought to know war crimes when they see them.

Suppose an Islamic Court might be more entertaining?

Make it pay-per-vieiw and help pay for damaged vets' bills.

But since we are signers to the established court, it will probably do. Seemed a popular and functional solution for Milo.

From Wikipedia (including the usual liberal parenthesis from some unkown person)........

The District of Columbia and the city of Washington are governed by a single municipal government, and for most practical purposes, are considered to be the same entity. This has not always been the case. Until 1871, when Georgetown ceased to be a separate city, there were multiple jurisdictions within the District.[3] Although there is a municipal government and a mayor, Congress has the supreme authority over the city and district, which results in citizens having less self-governance than residents of the states. The District has a non-voting at-large Congressional representative. In FY2004, federal tax collections were $16.9 billion[4] while federal spending in the District was $37.6 billion.[5]

The vast majority of the valuable property in the district is Federal property, exempt from property taxes, too. That certainly reduces tax revenue.

Tri, the federal district (D.C.) was set up in the first place as a seat of government—not a burgeoning city where 1000's of people were expected to live!

In fact, the whole notion of public service in the early days of the Republic was modeled on the example of Gen. Washington and other Founders: serve your appointed duty as a steward of the public trust, then when you're finished...retire and go home.

Politics was never meant to be a lucrative, lifelong career. The sheer size of D.C. today only underscores how far we've drifted from the Founders' intent. Send all the parasite politicians home! Let all the wonks, bureaucrats, lawyers and lobbyists go back to their respective states and get real jobs.

Then you'd have a government city where the folks hanging out there are the ones actually working for us!
