No, as long as those convictions do not infringe upon the liberties of others.

Just as I'm entitled to believe that many religious people are knuckle dragging backwoods mouth breathers that are influenced by the beliefs of Bronze Age goat herders and have IQ's below your average house cat.

I find it interesting that no one is mentioning this little tidbit.

Republican Rep. Don Coram, whose son is gay, cited his reasons for voting against the measure while his wife, Dianna Coram, wiped away tears in the audience. Coram said civil unions are too similar to same-sex marriage, which Colorado voters banned in 2006. He blasted Democrats, accusing them of bringing up the issue to try to gain votes.

"The gay community is being used as a political pawn," he said.

Perhaps the reason why they voted it down had nothing to do with hate but instead had something to do with their jobs as elected representatives of their constituents?

I don't think most of them hate homosexuals. Maybe some do, maybe not.

I think that they simply are confusing the concept of civil marriage with religious marriage.

To rule out the confusion, I think we should end all civil marriages, start calling all current ones unions, and all future one unions.

If you want to go to a priest and have them conduct a ceremony, fine, call yourself married, but it should mean nothing legally.

And you wonder why many of us Christians have stopped paying attention to the view points of the left?

You know what I always find funny about those who often get on these threads to denounce equal rights for gays and lesbians is how often many of them also bring up anal sex, people's "poopers," "ramming," etc. etc. It's like they just can't stop themselves from thinking, in particular, about men having sex with men. It's like, "Oh, gross! The whole thing is just disgusting, so I'm just going to keep talking about it and describing what those dirty men do to one another. Those dirty, dirty, oooo, those dirty perverts!"

That can't be the case since 76% of Coloradans support extending equal rights to gay couples via civil union legislation. Hell, this bill had more than enough support to pass if it have been given a vote. All the Democrats supported it as well as at least 5 Republicans (they have a 1 seat advantage in the 65 member body).

Is it really news any more when the GOP lies? It's pretty much their standard operating mode.

A well conceived line of logic from you. Gold star. Even though every poll has the number of Republicans who support gay marriage growing, albeit slowly, as time goes by.

I guess anyone that doesn't adhere to your "family values" ideals are left wing wackos.

I don't adhere to either left or right ideology. I'm a fiscal conservative and social liberal.
