I'm not sure how you can say what you say above and then answer the question below like you did? Yes, I would love to have both, for hunting and target practice.
Maybe, because my father didn't own every type of firearm, and taught me about what I used, and still use.
As they could both be considered "sniper" rifles (I use the low term intentionally), their rate of fire isn't a huge issue. One is meant to kill game animals at long distances. Most large game animals have a one-per-day take limit, so unless you completely miss a follow-up shot isn't critical. The other is meant to kill people at long distances. As I don't think someone shooting out of a tower into a crowd really cares about take limits, the quick follow-up shots and multiple high-capacity magazines make it much more effective. If someone is using the semi-auto to hunt deer they're probably doing it purely for the "cool" factor. If they need the quick follow-up shots and multiple high-capacity magazines for game they're either ignoring game laws (leave some for me, why don'tcha?) or else they really need to visit the target range more often.
I wish you were all correct, since in NH a hunter can take only one deer with a fire arm per season, 1 bear per season, and only one moose by lottery.
Both could be used for hunting, and in NH both would have to have only 5 rounds, no matter the capity of other magazines. I don't know all hunting laws for other states.
A semi auto for hunting can make sence for is a 2nd shot should be required.
The semi auto would never be seen by any serious sniper as a sniper rifle. Bolt action is far better for being accurate.
What the heck is that elephant gun those guys are mishandling in the 2nd half of that video?
In dunno....... looks painfull though..... I am assuming you mean the white guys and one in a light green shirt. I can't see it well enough to get a ID.
