When an extremist group gets their hands on some form of power, the citizen extremists hiding in the woodwork like termites, seize their chance to jump on the bat crap crazy bandwagon. I am not going to compare these Neocons and Tea Partiers to Nazis, but that is how the Nazi Party was able to staff the Third Reich with sadists and crazies. When these rejects got wind that they could put their lunacy and cruelty to use under the guise of a government backed movement, the feeding frenzy commenced. Propaganda was an incredibly useful tool and we are hearing that type of crazy and over the top propaganda now.

Everyone has their idealization of what they feel would be best for the country. Everyone thinks of himself or herself as the best possible candidate. When we vote on a candidate, we should be voting for someone who represents the ideals we best feel represents our own viewpoints. This is most evidenced by the typical saying, "If I had my way..." or "If I were running things..."

The majority of the American public can't determine for themselves what they feel is best for the country. Most Americans don't know about economics, international affairs, the multitudes of domestic issues, etc... That a candidate has to deal with on a day-to-day basis. So, in order to fulfill those needs, most Americans turn on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, or something similar and they listen to people spew talking points.

Essentially what happens is the general public fails to formalize their own thoughts and opinions of what they feel is best for the country. They simply regurgitate what they're told by the magic box that hangs on the wall. Once a group of collective thought processes moves forward in such a manner, it's not hard for it to steer right off a cliff.

Most Americans never heard of Keynesian Economics until the bailouts happened. Suddenly, Fox News does an interview with some right-wing economist on the Bill O'Reilly show, the guy mentions Keynesian Economics as this liberal, left-wing, agenda and guess what? Suddenly, everyone watching has mutated into an expert on economics and how bad Keynesian Economics is. Did they come up with that thought themselves? No. The vast majority didn't. They were simply told it was bad by an authority figure in a believable manner. They weren't given the other side, they weren't taught the basic principles of it, or anything of that nature.

People watch the "fear box" because it's so much easier to be told what to think rather than to think for oneself. They let drama, fear, a tinge of educational material, and a lot of ignorance guide the way they think. Then, you have an army of mobilized idiots screaming that our President is a "Foreign-born, socialist, Muslim/Atheist, who is hellbent on the destruction of America by taking away our guns, forcing us to get medical insurance, and will send us off to the communal farm to pick cherries for the government if we disagree."

So, the basic premise is that the majority of people are idiots who have no ability to think for themselves but are willing to pass the ideas they ripped straight from the TV as their own. It's kind of comical when you think about it.
Just because someone might not have been aware of the label "Kesnesian" doesn't mean they weren't accutely aware of the policy of some wanting to continue to spend far more than the government takes in.

Fox literally did that.
Yeah, we probably shouldn't forget the importance of the "profit motive" in all this nowadays. The Right Wing has obviously been around for awhile already, but even besides the emergence of cable and FOX News, etc., just look at all the right wing bloviators who now make a tidy living, with talk-radio shows, internet blogs, and writing books, all telling the faithful whatever they wanna hear.... and for a price!

And every time you think the market is finally "over-saturated", more just keep popping up... as though the wingers have become a bunch of junkies that are endlessly addicted to this kinda stuff!

The left wing has it's own share of news's channels, internet blogs, etc. and their faithful listens to whatever they want them to hear also. The Huffington Post, Daily Kos, CNN news come to mind just to name a few.

Most Republicans do not have a thing to do with the rightwingers. And not all Conservatives are registered Republicans, you need to keep that in mind.

News outlets are the problem - they are giving air time to this wacko crap, but it isn't just from the right - it is from the left, too. However, since most reporters tend towards the left, it is as tho they search out the most extreme examples of right wingers to spotlight.

It is giving a very false impression of what the political climate is like in this country. If you sit down with people and ask them - "what are the important issues in your life?" - you wll get the same answers from the majority, regardless of political affiliation.

People do not spend their lives focused on such things as gay marriage. They spend their lives focused on taking care of their families and trying to survive in this crappy economy. They are concerned about the future of their kids. They want decent housing in a safe neighborhood, they want affordable healthcare, they want to be able to get a decent education. Most of all, they want a job!

The majority of people don't spend their free time analyzing whether or not Obama is a commie or whether he was born in Hawaii or Kenya . . . they aren't out marching in front of abortion clinics or lambasting their local school board about creationism vs. evolution. They don't have time to do their own taxes so they sure aren't gonna take time to pour over Mitt Romney's and they know the IRS would have had him thrown in jail long ago if he was engaging in tax fraud. They really don't care about ANY OF THESE SILLY SIDE ISSUES.

They want to know they are getting a paycheck next week. They want to know they can pay their mortgage/rent. They want to know they aren't going to go bankrupt if they have a seroius illness. They want to know their mom and dad are going to get their social security checks.

All the epithets and gnashing of teeth that goes on 24/7 on TV and the internet should be labeled: "for entertainment purposes only," as it sure as hell is not NEWS. NEWS is Greece's economy. NEWS can even be Michael Phelps. NEWS is most certainly the latest info on global warming. Obama's birth certificate? Romney's therapy horse? Uh, NO, that ain't news. Yet, that is the worthless tripe that we are being fed round the clock.

Just turn off the radio, the tv and be selective about what URLs you click on the net. The world would be a much more sane place if we all just STOPPED LISTENING. If we stopped listening, then these fools (on both sides of the aisles) would no longer capture the air waves and we wouldn't be exposed to the madness.

Talk to your neighbor, your office worker, the guy who picks up your garbage every week. Just ask them: what are the most important issues in your life? I promise you - they won't be saying "where Obama was born" nor will they say "Mitt Romney's tax returns." They will say: my family, my health, my kids' education, making a paycheck, taking care of my parents, living in a safe neighborhood.

Time we all stopped allowing the extremists on both sides divide this country -- cause we are all a lot more alike than we are different - but you sure the hell would never be able to tell that when you listen to all the talking heads out there.

The US Constitution was called nutty, 200 years ago, too.

They go nuts every time a Democrat is elected to the Presidency. Look at the eight years under Clinton. Hate groups and anti-government militias exploded in number, and we took our eye off the foreign threats like al Qaeda because of nutjobs like Timothy McVeigh.
