That's precisely the point. If the perpetrators of this episode of vandalism had come forward, or committed their acts in public, it would have at least demonstrated their willingness to "accept the penalty." As it was, they did it in secret, when no one was around.
Instead of "expressing respect for the law", they have shown abject cowardice.
Indeed, I bet it was Republicans pretending to be vandalist gays. Still the community should help the store owner clean and try to find the perpetrators, perhaps trace the phone calls?
I don't see any of those vandals in jail - which makes your civil disobedience defense rather hollow.
I agree, they are criminals and I think civil disobedience is a crime anyway... but more than that these vandals stand for nothing but damage, which means they aren't civil rights workers at all, they are just vandals... and personally I don't think the crime of vandalism fits the civil disobedience motto of protest in public and then protest form jail. vandalism is not a form of protest, and neither are death threats.

Did you miss this from the first post?
"Gay Hollywood artist Manny Castro took credit for that incident, and was booked on suspicion of vandalism."
An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law.....Martin Luther King jr
Really, you comparing these vandalism acts to Martin Luther King and his exploits, that is an insult to the African American community at the very least!

No, it is just a different day and a different group being discriminated against...The parallels are there...Once gays achieve equality, who becomes the next target of injustice?
These criminal incidents are yet another poor reflection on the homosexual.
You are wrong imho. People ain't gonna take it any more. You go after them they go after you.
Pitting people against people is the next step towards anarchy which as we know is what the religious folks may want to justify the "rapture". Ooops did that already happen?...mY bad

Destroying property, justifies it?
Nature has a way of culling the freaks. Keep it up...
