Oddly enough, red states receive much more federal aid than blue states. That has been going on for years even though these states have been governed by conservatives for quite some time.
In other words, the republican party is the one that ensures that the poor remain poor. Talk about conserving the status quo...
Often on this board, liberals distort facts and suggest the conservative voters are more likely to be on foodstamps and welfare, given that "red states" recieve more in welfare benefits than many "blue states". This, of course, is a distortion of the facts, as PEOPLE recieve welfare and foodstamps, not states or counties.
Of those PEOPLE recieving welfare and foodstamps the majority are democrats. The gimme party keeps its voters on the plantation and plies them with benefits from the treasury, much to the detriment of the nation. Further, despite more whites being on welfare, the PERCENTAGE of whites on welfare is 12%, while that of blacks on welfare is 36%. DeToqueville was right- the bums are killing a once powerful nation.

And now you know the rest of the story. Welfare is a ranch for raising Democrats at the expense of real Americans.
Amazing how quickley the deflections come. GE was given a ton of corporate welfare and tax credits, look up all the corporate welfare for green energy, then spend some time and find out who really benefited from the auto bailouts and come back and tell us how they are all Republicans or Republican programs.
Read the articles you will find out quickly that it is based on an actual study, makes Krugman look like the hack he has always been.
Um, a poll is not a study. A poll is a poll. The first poll was conducted five years ago @ Syracuse. Further, there are a lot more entitlement and aid programs (available and used by all classes) not included in this 'poll'. The second phone survey was conducted with a group of 750 individuals. I'd go out on a limb and say that's not quite representative of the entire US population. I digress.

Yes, of course. Democrats are opposed to capitalism and principles of the Constitution. As DeToqueville said, the death of a democracy occurs when citizens realize that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the treasury.
Democrats are literally killing the nation with this "gimme" attitude, in which "treats" are given for votes. What happened to "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country"?
The welfare state, fostered by democratic policy, is creating debt levels which will destroy the nation.
They have learned to do something that big business does. What destroyed the economy was the big gimme from wall street.
The death of capitalism occurs when the worker realizes that he will not become rich by working hard. Conservatives attack on Unions and wages sends a message to the worker that conservatives don't want you to be one of them.

Aaron Carroll of Indiana University tells us that in 2010, residents of the 10 states Gallup ranks as “most conservative” received 21.2 percent of their income in government transfers, while the number for the 10 most liberal states was only 17.1 percent." Even the classification 'most conservative' distorts.
Here's a more specific article with food stamp usage data from the USDA. If you are going to post a thread like this with such a sweeping generalization, at least try to back up the information with concrete data to enhance the validity of your statement, and, your own credibility.
The latest cost is over a trillion dollars. I don't see how this is a good way to spend money and is encouraging people to become more responsible.
