If I grow a heart in the lab and then discard it, did I commit murder?

Capital punishment also stops a beating heart. It's one of the exceptions to the general rule that murder is a killing that is deliberate, premeditated (first degree) and willful.

The question is, at what point is the fetus considered a person? If you kill a dog you're not charged with murder because a dog isn't a person. You may be charged with animal cruelty, but not murder. There's definitely a point where you can look at a fetus and conclude that it's not much different from an infant. There's also definitely a point where you can look at a zygote or fetus and conclude that it's just a mass of cells.

Murder is a legal term requiring malice and forethought.

If you like can call refer to abortion as being a homicide.

In many states they do consider killing a fetus to be murder when it is not done by a licensed professional.

And an amoeba will move towards food and away from threats to its survival.....that does not mean it is sentient.

Abortion is a way to cull the herd of undesirables, it's that simple. Liberals don't even know this is aimed at them, because they have been taught nothing is their responsibility, leave it up to the state, it knows best.
Death penalty is a 'penalty' for the most heinous of acts, such as intentionally murdering children. Actions have consequences.
You are pretty naive if you think conservative women don't get abortions. LOL

Taking choice away from women IS "leaving it up to the state".

Liberals believe women are capable and deserving of making their own reproductive choices.....conservatives are the ones who want the government to make those choices for them. Can't you see that?

They should be able to decide if that sperm develops into a full blown human being. If one believes a embryo is a full blown human, that's fine with me, we'll just have our differences but forcing your belief upon others isn't right. The title of this thread is what do you consider murder, and I just don't find abortion to be murder, but you may.

Life isn't determined by law. In fact, what constitutes life is still a pretty open question. You go to science for that answer.
