Peace.

Israel didn't want Gaza and vacated it several years ago. Israel also gave back the Sinai Desert to Egypt in exchange for a peace treaty. So it simply false to say that Israel wants occupied land. As for the West Bank area according to international law (and you can check this out yourself) it isn't an occupied territory but one wonders why the Palestinian Arabs didn't revolt against Jordan who controlled the area between 1949-1967 and why they don't revolt against the ruling Hashemite family in general which has its roots in Saudi Arabia and is governing the area which was Eastern Palestine under the British Mandate and still has a population which is Palestinian Arab in the majority.

Here in the USA the Lakotah have rejected it for over twice that long. As the Lakotah have never surrendered, the Lakotah and the USA are techincally still living under a Peace Treaty. Technically the land the Lakotah are left holding is not part of the USA.

All stories have at least 2 sides. I wonder how any of us would act and see things if we had lived, in Palestine/Israel, through the changes that have taken place between 1947 and today.

It is not a question of who is right or who is wrong it is a question of why 2 different groups deeply believe the same property belongs to them.

People will die for what they sincerely believe is their rightful home. Things will not change until each group is safely settled into what they can safely feel is their home. Is it reasonable to expect the Palestinians to accept that the land their ancestors lived on for centuries is no longer theirs?

We have the same thing here in the USA there are people who still believe that North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming are the "Republic of Lakotah" and the land belongs to the Lakotah. The violence pretty much stopped in 1973. However there was nearly 150 years of violence before the Lakotah reached the point before they could no longer carry on a physical war. The battle still continues, but today the attempts are through the courts. the Palestine/Israel issue has only been going on for 66 years, if the Lakotah can be used as an example, we can expect about 100 more years of conflict.

When one deals with two distinct Nations each with sincere beliefs the land is theirs, we can not expect a resolution until one group reaches the point it can no longer fight for what it believes belongs to them.

I do not see any peaceful resolution. It is especially difficult when both are sincerely convinced they are right and the other side is the aggressor.

We only need to look at the history of Europe to see the potential of Muslim ethnic cleansing. Every Christian country in the world was ethnically cleansed by Christians. First they came with bread, wine, and promises, then they came with the sword for those who didn't take the gift, the gospel. The result is Western Civilization. I don't support ethnic cleansing by Muslims -or- Christians. I don't get the double standard.

I believe all peoples have the right to resist ethnic cleansing and preserve their traditions. Even if those traditions are themselves alien to their distant ancestors.

Woodrow, Israel does not want the land that Hamas lives in. They already gave them Gaza and the Israelis have no desire whatsoever to take it back. You can't say this is a war about land. This is purely about security and peace.

We all know the adage: if Hamas would put down their arms, there would be no more war. If Israel were to put down their arms, there would be no more Israel.

Pruz, thanks for offering a counter arguement to the lies presented in that original map. I wonder how many people here took the original map, which is basically a fantasy created by anti-Semites, as truth?
