So no kid can stand to even hear the word God when they are in school? What kind of pansies are the atheists who think that will warp their kids' minds? Maybe they should raise stronger kids.

I've yet to see a liberal come to the defense of "God" although they are very quick to point out that "there are Christians liberals too!!!!!!"

Their silence speaks volumes.

I wonder if the kid had used the word Allah or Mohammed if the school would have asked them to remove it.

I doubt it.

Who is this "God" guy you speak of? I know a Mexican named Jesus, does that count? Nah, I am just messing with you, actually I think this school went too far with censorship. I get that they chose to go with caution, but I don't think a kid reading a poem would have crossed the line of separation of Church and State.

It is worrisome to me that a SCHOOL, an institute of higher learning, does not understand what the Constitution is saying. How can you teach something if you don't understand it yourself?

Liberal here.
I think the child should have been allowed to read her poem. This was not a class mandate, other children were not made to read it. It was one childs writings that she was to read aloud.

Yep, things have gone too far if parents faint at even the mention of the word God in school. All parents need to explain things to their kids that happened in school that day, why can't they? DUH

I wonder who would've been outraged if the little girl was saying Allah instead of god?....As an aside, it was learned that parents in some California schools were teaching there very young children to go to school and proselytize. The school may appear heavy handed but they need to be
vigilant in keeping the hocus pocus out of schools.
