Who the hell said anyone was and where did you even come up with that? The Sandy Hook gunman was a domestic terrorist, not a bunch of law-abiding gun owners. But, instead, idiots like Feinstein seem to think some half-assed gun laws would have stopped a murderous nutjob like Lanza.

Personally I think one should have a license to own a gun to prevent idiots from owning guns. But that is just my personal opinion, not something that will actually happen.
You mean something other than the federal background check that's already required to purchase a firearm?
You suppose that the gunslingers would be able to organize sufficient resistance to require the civil power to summon the aid of the armed forces. But in all probability, nothing remotely close to that would be necessary; we have civilian police forces perfectly capable of dealing with armed criminals. They do it all the time.
According to the VA there are 22 1/2 million veterans in this country.
There are millions of retired law enforcement officers in this country.
There are millions of active hunters in this country.
According to gunpolicy.org there are 270 million civilian firearms in the United States.
According to gun policy.org there are a little over 3 million United States military firearms.
According to gunpolicy.org active law enforcement has less than 1 million firearms in the United States.
Underestimating the organizational capability, the conviction and the resolve of gun owners would be a mistake. Many people are sheep. Many are not. The government knows all of this.
You do realize that the entire event in Waco started and happened because the ATF attempted to confiscate weapons that they thought were being kept illegally?
You basically give a perfect recent example of the gov. coming after someone's guns then you claim that the gov. would never come after anyone's guns.
And the people in Waco came out victorious in the battle. The point is, if you go up against the US government, that is what is going to happen to you.
OK. I'll bite. If they had had an arsenal at Waco (and they did, from reports), what good did it do them?
It didn't, but at least they had the chance to make a stand.
This whole issue isn't about wanting to fight the government, that is absurd. It is about making sure that in the event we find ourselves with a group of elected leaders hell-bent on stripping our constitution rights and dignity, that the public is at least capable of defending itself.
Hopefully that day never happens, but you can't go eliminated any and all checks and balances which keep this government working FOR the people. that is an integral part of a free-society system.
You admit, then, that you regard yourself as belonging in the same category as the Branch Davidians.
That would depend on what category you're talking about. I'm certainly not in any religious cult and I'm not planning on starting my own commune any time soon.
If you're talking about someone willing to defend themselves against a corrupt government, sure you can throw me in that category.
