$250 mil to Egypt

We can't say - sorry guys, we have no money?

How much is going to green energy projects with suspect technology?
You are looking at one of the main problems with the sequestor. It cuts across the board and does not cut smartly. The Areas where the largest cuts could be done would need the House Of Reps. to cut them. Right now the management of each dept. is making the cuts by 20% across the dept.

Because the Repub. in the house do not want to cut govt. spending watch as they pass bill after bill trying to put spending back. The people on the right have no idea what the fakers in the house are doing.

But it's still an INCREASE in govt spending. Not a cut.

So, with an increase of 7% in govt spending due to sequestration... explain to me why the govt has to close 186 air traffic control towers?
DoT which governs the FAA got a 36% increase for FY 2013 and includes $2.5 billion to study high speed rail. DoT is the one that got the cuts and directed the majority of cuts to the FAA which is 80% funded by user fees that we pay when we fly so only 20% is taxpayer funded and that is what the DoT is cutting from the FAA.

But they will keep the $2.5 billion to STUDY high speed rail.

Based on yr to yr figures the Fed. spending is being cut. I love it when people use % to try to prove a point. So based on 2011 the 20% cut is less spending. Budgets in the affected depts. will be lowered and over the next 6months you will be hearing of more and more stories as the FAA one at the top of this thread.

Might want to ask the Repub. in the house why they dont cut their own spending on staff and perks.

I think this qualifies.

FAA says 173 air traffic control towers will close on April 7

The federal government will close 173 air traffic control towers at small- and medium-size airports on April 7 because of forced spending cuts, the Federal Aviation Administration told tower operators Tuesday. It will close another 16 towers on September 30, the end of the fiscal year.

...
"We're extremely discouraged and disappointed that the FAA is taking this action," Dickerson said. "The rest of the FAA's budget is getting a 5% haircut; the contract towers are getting a 75% cut, because the FAA is cutting 189 of the 251 contract towers."

"It's hard for us to see the fairness in the budget cuts. It seems the contract tower program is taking a high, disproportionate cut. We have serious concerns about the safety, efficiency and loss of jobs in almost 150 communities across the country," he said.
As I have posted before, our government does not even cut air traffic controllers during a complete shutdown of the federal government. So what 0bama is doing is incredibly irresponsible and outrageous.

I said this before.

Most towers are unmanned, this is normal. It just means you've got to speak your approach on a common channel and keep your eyes and ears open. The local airport here, right next to FT Campbell military base is unmanned.

This isn't the disaster people who know nothing about flight thinks it is.
