I don't disagree with you - it is a bad idea to let children think a firearm is a toy to be played with.
Nothing that I read in the article alluded that children were being taught a firearm is a toy to be played with.

It was stated they are raffling the firearm to raise funds.

[MOD CUT]
Raffling an AR-15 to raise money for a baseball team certainly isn't stating the members of the team are passing the firearm around amongst themselves as they down shots of scotch and watch pirated copies of deep throat.

If someone donated a car for them to raffle would you assume the kids are joy riding around town in it?

Your original post stated that the kids were making a political statement by picking a gun.

Well, you are right, it probably is the adults making the point, especially the one who donated the firearm. However, they are teaching their children valuable lessons about freedom, liberty and oppressive government.

Pretty stupid thing for yo to say actually.

I'll say what I choose to say, with or without your permission thank you very much and if people did say things that related to the subject at hand, I wouldn't use that phrase.

However, your original statement above is a non-sequitor - it has nothing to do with anything I have said.

No, but donating a car would be an appropriate, non-political donation for a children's baseball team. It also wouldn't have prompted the content of your original post, or your need to create this thread which you thought was so funny. What I wrote was an absolutely appropriate analogy, not "non-sequitor."

My comments were never about you, or your beliefs, they were about the children who are being used as pawns in a political agenda. This whole "let's auction off an assault rifle in the name of gov't oppression" is thoughtless and boorish, and worse, gains its publicity on the backs of children.

I believe alcohol and marijuana should be legal and I feel that banning it is oppressive, I still wouldn't donate it to some little league as a raffle prize.

I disagree.
You don't like it, but that doesn't make it inappropriate.
You are probably a liberal and think what you like or dislike should be imposed on everyone else.

Thankfully we haven't "progressed" that far yet.

Why?

"Little kids" have been handling guns since the early days of America.

They took their guns to school.

There were school run shooting teams. Even in Wash, D.C. schools.

They went hunting UNSUPERVISED. Oh, the horror!

There are MANY shooting competitions especially FOR young kids and they are doing great.

We have stories TODAY where young kids, even girls, have SHOT armed intruders breaking into their homes.

What has changed?

Read the damn article. The kids aren't running around with guns, they're trying to raise money for their team and the gun shop donated a rifle so they could.
