Mandated sex-ed for Chicago kindergartners will include instruction about male and female anatomy and reproduction. It’s not clear exactly how much detail five- and six-year-olds will be taught concerning the more sophisticated uses of their genitals.

By the time students get to third and fourth grade, the focus will include appropriate and inappropriate touching, as well as puberty and HIV/AIDS.

Coursework from fifth grade to 12th grades will concentrate on sexually-transmitted diseases and contraception. Abstinence will reportedly be presented as a possible method of birth control. Sexual orientation, gender identity and bullying related to those things will also be part of the curriculum at some point from fifth grade to 12th grade, as well.

Oh no! children will learn the proper names for body parts. It will be the downfall of this country!
My son knew the correct names for all of his body parts before kindergarten. What's the big deal?

It's not like Chicago schools aren't rolling in all sorts of money they need to figure out how to spend.

They've done such a great job teaching kids to read, why would this concern you?

Well, I'd assume with sexual education there will be a lower birth rate, in turn resulting in less people on welfare...

...Right?

I'd say five or six is a bit young for in depth talks about sex.

Who knows? I'd already had sex by the time we received sex ed in my day but drug and alcohol education made me curious and caused me to want to try drugs. I'd already tried alcohol before that as well.

Do you honestly think a child that age has the intellectual capacity to get the "sophisticated" nuances?
Really?

Define sophisticated nuances. This curriculum is also not defined which is most likely the objection that parents will have.
