I don't know but they got what they wanted now in the schools.
No more pledge to "be good" and "behave"

What the **** is so hard to understand about freedom of religion?

Wait a second - actually a lot of the kids back then were monsters. They talk about bullying these days. I remember how they used to bully and beat my older brother- swarms of kids...like vicious rats would attack him. He would cry..and the principle would insist that he was defective mentally....and the hooligans were not punished - In fact they were rewarded for their evil deeds.

Nope. Your fundamentalists raised hell in the 50's and got "under God" added to the pledge, directly contradicting the previous word, indivisible.

Oleg...you keep avoiding the question. Would you be OK with Scientology or Heaven's Gate literature being passed out in schools?

It is not hard to understand. The States were free to choose, and they chose to mention God in their State Constitutions. ALL OF THEM. I am sorry if it offends you.

They have to be silent..the law said so.
I don't think nobody should be forced to pray in school, but pendulum has swung to far to the other side were anything christian is attacked. People who believe in traditional values need to start speaking and quit being intimidated by whack job liberal organizatins like the ACLU.

It's not like some preacher is going kick out the math teacher and take over the class and start preaching the gospel. What if a bible was handed to a child just outside the school gates as they were leaving- Would someone try to stop that also? It's a book...all good books contain knowledge. The child will either read it or not- You can not take that choice away from the child because YOU want to form the child's mind in a certain manner.
I guess you missed the brouhaha when peoples' heads were exploding due to the "Sally has Two Mommies" book in school.

You do realize the ACLU defends Christians probably more than any other group?
