Would it be wrong for the state to hand out Korans? Tao Te Ching?
Let's not confuse the zealots' request for religion in schools to mean anything other than JUST Christianity.
Yes, it would be wrong for the state to do this, as it is wrong for the state to hand out Bibles. This was the Gideons, a private organization, handing out the Bibles. I don't think any private organizations should be allowed on school property.

They were also all white men. Some of them owned slaves.
Are we supposed to somehow think that we should be a white, male, slave owning nation because that's what the Founding Fathers were?
I'll answer that for you. No.
What? Someone argued most of the Founding Fathers were NOT Christian, and I provide proof that practically all of them were Christian. It has nothing to do with them being white.
It's not like some preacher is going kick out the math teacher and take over the class and start preaching the gospel. What if a bible was handed to a child just outside the school gates as they were leaving- Would someone try to stop that also? It's a book...all good books contain knowledge. The child will either read it or not- You can not take that choice away from the child because YOU want to form the child's mind in a certain manner.
What is so bad about a kid reading PROVERBS? There is some brilliant wisdom in there. Those who seek to thwart what they consider Christianity know nothing about it. All they know is that believers might no like gay marriage or other silly things.
The American Empire was built on Christianity. Try telling a Muslim that they can not have a Koran and see how far you get. Americans are push overs. It's not even about Christianity...it is about inheritance of a culture - about tradition - about history....No one group should be allowed to remove a nations heritage.
I agree 1000% I blame a lot of this P.C. crap on Christians and conservative for being too damn silent on these isssues.

12 pages of posts and "racism" pops up..geeze. Thanks for trying to squash this before it goes somewhere.
Yeah..prior to 1963 public schools were a mess with out of controls students all due to prayers being said in the morning.
HEY - I remember the morning prayer in public school. It was basically a pledge to be good and behave in a civilized manner. What was so horrible about that?
Ah yes lets bring back those good old days. The 1960's- prayer in school and segregation.
