then the white house would have most likely asked someone else ( assumably relevant to thatcher ) to represent the US at thatcher's funeral and, if the person(s) said yes, then they would have sent them in place of schultz and baker.
Neither are representatives of this administration. They served in prior Republican administrations. Obama is not even having the US Ambassador to the UK attend. A Charge d'Affaires is going. Disgraceful.
Even so, as it happens, Ambassador Susman chose to attend the funeral as part of the official delegation representing the President and Government of the United States, even though he's no longer en poste.
This information has been posted in this thread above - by me - so one can only conclude that like others who continue to insist that black is white, either you are naturally obstinate in your ignorance, or you are simply trolling.
Get over yourself buddy. You want to veer off course on this issue. I get it. Obviously you're in the Obama camp on this one. The shooting victim was more worthy. I gotcha the first time.
Ok, son, you've blown your cover. Get off your dad's computer and get your homework done.
Thatcher is known as extreme right wing- Obama is gaining the reputation of being the opposite...If he and his administration had any brains they would have shown some respect for Thatcher...Both our Prime Minister and a former Prime Minister of Canada attended. It shows immaturity to snub the right...it takes a right and left hand to create a functional body. The left and the right have good things to offer. Obama was worried that he might lose some support from his left wing base if he showed respect for the right...it's a mistake.
And people stupidly say Obama 'sent them'. He 'sent' no one. Obama has no authority over Schultz and Baker. Like I said. Obama can claim to have 'sent them' but it's a lie. What if they said they did not want to go? Please.
Of course he sent them. I've heard that he also asked President Bush Sr to go on the administration's behalf, but that request was refused because he is helping his son with W's Presidential library. So he requested Schultz and Baker to represent the United States at the funeral. If they hadn't wanted to go, he would have requested someone else. If the President requests that someone go there on his behalf, and they accept, then the President can be said to have sent them. Your quibble is ridiculous.
Poor Maggie, didn't exactly draw the A list of funeral attendees, from Obama to Merkel. But she did get Bidi Netanyahu, Poland'd Donald Tusk and Stephen Harper was the only head of from a Commonwealth country. Hell considering the relationship between the Queen and Maggie, I'm surprised that she even showed up.
So to stay on topic...
Good on him. Saved the taxpayers a lot of money better spent on his kid's vacation.
i love that my belief that sending schultz and baker to represent the US at thatcher's funeral is a more appropriate selection than biden and michelle ( or others in the current administration ) makes me an "obamite" in your opinion.
Heck, send Mooochelle. She's always chomping at the bit for a free vacation on the taxpayers dime. She could also "hug the Queen" and make all kinds of other "I'm a ghetto girl" social faux pas.
Hmmm there is an idea!
