That is FALSE...The mayor of Moore said that FEMA was onsight because of the Tornado that hit a couple of days ago.

If you are upset at politicization of a tragedy - good - but be consistent and tell the partisan hacks on your side of the aisle to tone down the rhetoric as well.
Liberal sources didn't waste much time politicizing the tornado tragedy:
Oklahoma Senators Jim Inhofe, Tom Coburn, Face Difficult Options On Disaster Relief - HuffPo

Anyone regret slashing National Weather Service budget now? - Salon

Then there was this tasteful little nugget, from the co-creator of The Daily Show:

This is getting too easy:

FEMA, Federal Partners Support Response to Severe Storms in Oklahoma | FEMA.gov

FEMA deployed an Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT) to the state emergency operations center in Oklahoma City to coordinate with state and local officials in support of recovery operations. FEMA also deployed Urban Search and Rescue Teams and a Mobile Emergency Response Support (MERS) Team to Oklahoma to provide self-sustaining telecommunications, logistics, and operations support elements. FEMA also has additional personnel from the Denton, Texas regional office on alert.

The Daily Show jab was sarcastic, based on these:
Pat Robertson: Haiti "Cursed" After "Pact to the Devil" - Crimesider - CBS News
Hurricane Katrina as divine retribution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sane people, including sane Christians, don't believe that God strikes down communities through natural disasters to "punish" them. A tornado is severe weather caused by nature--the collision of warm most air and cooler dry air--and not a supernatural event. That was the point that the daily show producer was trying to make. Good grief.

As for the rest, budget cuts have real world consequences on real people and human life. It's not politicizing a tragedy to point that out--it's fact.

Why is it political to ask about funding? Sandy devastated the northeast...a whole town has been hit hard in OK.

Conserviatives need to either come on board and help fund FEMA or stand and say no more tax money to disaster relief.

It is so tiresome; it really is.
The same thing happened with Katrina and Bush.
The same question...where was FEMA.

People seem to think FEMA is a first responder group.

First responders are the local emergency crews along with the citizens, private and businesses. Then its the Red Cross, then FEMA.
We had a local town get hit pretty hard by a tornado about 15 years ago. Locals stepped up, many amish and mennonites, and rebuilt or repaired barns and buildings with free labor. Local communities, church groups and orgganizations donated money food and items to those who lost their homes.
Everybody lent a hand. They will down in Okalhoma although the need for help will be greater on that scale.

No, the problem with FEMA and Bush is they botched it, big time.

Sandy , like Katrina, was tracked for several days beforehand, with the landfall region narrowed down to the tri-state area 72 plus hours in advance in Sandy's case, and a tiny part of the Gulf in Katrina's case. Yesterday, 500,000 square miles of our nation was in the potential target zone. (5 times your home state, OP)!!

That means unless you wish to have FEMA headcount increased around 5000%, it is not possible to be in a tornado zone that wide quickly.
