Why should employers be burdened with providing healthcare to their employees?
This. We'd have a more nimble, mobile, entrepreneurial workforce if we didn't have the "golden handcuffs" that health insurance benefits provide. I know people who won't switch jobs because of their insurance, or who have put off/ruled out starting their own businesses for the same reason.
A single-payer system at the national level would eliminate those concerns.
And why do we now have so many c-sections? Malpractice insurance. Talk about a cost driver. Of course, most liability attorneys support and vote dem, so no we couldn't deal with the cost associated with malpractice. No, that would hurt dems livelihood. Bunch of hypocrits.

Is this not going to ***** of the left about those evil corporations, by making MORE profit now?
I don't care if someone is **** off, because I know it is impossible to please everyone. Personally I am all for profitability and competiveness. The health insurance burden is one expense which EU corporations do not have, and which might explain why some EU countried beat US in competiveness.

Agreed.
It is long past time to move to a new paradigm.
People are fully capable of buying car insurance, home owners/renters' insurance, etc. on their own.
There is just no reason to maintain this out-moded approach to health insurance.
