They're not looking for the average, they're looking for the median.
Why would the fed be looking fro any of it?

The cost is broken out, have you ever looked at a stock report?
I didn't read anything talking about controlling the pay scale.
But I do have a question for you. How do you expect the Economy to improve if the spending power of the majority of Americans does not increase?
How can you run a business if its tough for people to afford your products?
I said trying to control it on purpose.
1) I expect the spending power of consumers to improve by providing an environment more conducisive
for job creation. The Payscale matters not. Controlling a CEO's pay will not create one job.
2) Businesses will need to amend prices to compete.
I believe CEO compensation is, but the ratio of CEO compensation to median worker compensation is not.
The idea is for investors to get a sense of the compensation structure of the company they're potentially investing in.
It is to create anger and class warfare.
and I will be the first to say CEO's comps are rediculous. Between Shares, bonuses, Golden Parachutes and salary they are exorbitant. However for the SEC to try and control it by creating this atmosphere of resentment is pathetic.

How are businesses going to amend prices to compete, cut salaries more? In an economy, workers need to earn enough money to buy the products that their employers try to sell.

If an item is not selling the business lowers it s price.
Class warfare is pitting one economic class against another for political gain, which is exactly what is happening here.
We have class warfare now. The wealthy have been waging war on us for decades. Their share of wealth had skyrocketed. Ours has fallen. Their pay is the highest it's ever been. Ours is about the lowest. People being aware of the vast divide between CEO and worker pay is a good thing. It IS our business.
