This is kind of not a story, the guy was punished for what he said. Should he have said it? Of course not. Was he punished? Yes. So, what's the problem here?

However, the left continued down t he road of how ignorant the gun owners were and that ted was our spokes person, even after many of us gun owners denounced ted.

The problem is that he has exposed how excessively partisan he is and that he's a professor teaching journalists. Journalism is supposed to be unbiased, but this is the type of environment where any thought that conflicts with the professor's worldview negatively effects your grade, or you can't speak openly without fear of reprisal. It's molding the hive-mind that churns out journalists who are overwhelmingly Liberal and thus report a news from a skewed perspective.
