God is no longer your savior but Gov't as those which pray on the uneducated and misinformed would like you to believe. Gov't is your way to freedom introducing the idea into young minds is your only way out. This type of activity only escalates the idea you are almost worthless without the support of Gov't. Leaving many to believe their once considered accomplishments and strive for independence has all but gone to the way side. Two steps backwards is the future. Young black adults need to know their worth is of value. Many great black Americans have set examples for many your blacks because they listened to their hearts and not the ridicule of others. Instead of depriving blacks from the truths, Americans need to encourage not only blacks, but people of all colors there is a better way. It may take longer and it may be a struggle but their is hope. And long as you have hope and never give up you will accomplish. If you turn to those which do not have your best interest at heart, you are more likely to fail. As long as welfare is your savior and your future you may never move forward. Growing up in the ghetto following generations of poverty as a way of life will only create little opportunity for those which choose this way of life. Crime in the ghetto is a way of life for many as this is all they have for their example.

My family has done that. I've overcame. What your talking about is an entirely different issue.

What is wanted is equal protection under the law and a stop to the harassment and worse that happens to black Americans at the hands of the Police every day in this country.

Did you watch the video above? That guy is going to school to become an engineer and works 2 jobs. How exactly is he not everything you said 'black people' should strive for?

What does that story have to do with police hunting black people like slaves?

It is not directly race related, so could be considered off-topic by some. But it was enough for me to want to add to show a pattern of violence by Police.

Instead of starting tons of different threads on Police corruption/brutality/misconduct, I've just been compiling articles for a case that we need a culture change.

Black people are not the only ones targeted by Police or who deal with Police corruption obviously.

Maui Editor Urges Lawmakers to End Secrecy Surrounding Police Misconduct - Honolulu Civil Beat

"We as citizens pay taxes, which goes to pay police officer salaries, and yet we cannot hold bad cops accountable. We can look at the disciplinary record of other state personnel … but not police officers, who would seem to be the most important government employees that most people meet.

While no one’s saying these cops who were busted by Internal Affairs are local versions of Christopher Dorner (or even Augie T in Get a Job!), members of the public are perfectly right to wonder if they should still be wearing the uniform. And given the secrecy with which we treat cops who’ve run into trouble with their superiors, where’s the incentive for the department to treat infractions seriously if there’s no one watching them?"

"When you look at the facts, it’s clear that racism governs American drug policy. While five times as many white people as black people report using illicit drugs, the U.S. criminal justice system sends blacks to prison for drug offenses at 10 times the rate of whites according to the ACLU...."

"Even before alcohol prohibition, the development of the 1914 Harrison Narcotic Act (the first federal law in American history to criminalize the sale of drugs, which in this case was opiates) stemmed from the hatred and oppression of ethnic minority groups by white elites. The Act resulted from the brewing of a perfect political storm..."

"In one sense, the U.S. government legalized medical marijuana almost 30 years ago. In 1986 the DEA moved to reschedule dronabinol, a synthetic THC analogue better known by its trade name Marinol, from Schedule I to Schedule II under the federal Controlled Substance Act (in 1999 it was moved again, this time to Schedule III). The drug, delivered in a sesame oil substrate in an innocuous pill, is chemically identical to the THC found it marijuana plants. So why would it be legal to prescribe, while distributing herbal cannabis remains a felony?"

If you think privatizing will change this you are sadly mistaken, look at the privatized prisons. blacks are far more likely to be railroaded into the system.

We have created an ugly reality post slavery that resembles too closely the master slave relationship. there is merit to the OP's point, but the solution isn't to be found where they think. This is truly a sad affair.
