Lifeline got audited and 41% didn't qualify. The audit uncovered that the application information was never verified. The audit also uncovered that they didn't track people and many had several lifeline phones with different carriers. The government took people's word that they weren't making money and also left people on their own to only get one phone.

That all got changed with the audit.

Considering 26 states didn't expand I wouldn't count on it.

Even more false is that this is a "cut". It's not a cut at all. It was a temporary increase that has now expired. NO CUTS were made to the SNAP program.

Not true. I have no doubt there is fraud in every system, including our war machine apparatus. HOWEVER, this thread is about food stamps, not Medicaid. Your post was irrelevant to this discussion.

Total BS! Nearly 50% of the 135 million total tax filers pay NO federal income tax whatsoever.

That means only 1/5 of our total population of 314 million pay any federal income tax at all.

That is because that isn't where the govt makes it's real wealth. It is from investments.

That's right.
What kind of person would object to being compelled to labor for the benefit of another?
What kind of ingratitude is that?
It's a privilege to be a serf* on the government plantation.

So why have an income tax at all? Abolish it!

Yes, obviously EVERYBODY knows that food stamp beneficiaries are not getting a "cut" however the EFFECT of the expiration of the temporary increase is experienced as a CUT. So the reality is that people who are so poor and have so little income are now receiving EVEN LESS in food purchasing assistance. That EFFECTIVELY is a cut from the amount they were receiving last month. You REALLY SHOULD try to step out of your biased comfort zone and read a little bit about some of the realities faced by those living in poverty and below the poverty line today. Helping people EAT who are so poor they have difficulty buying the food they need, in fact HELPS YOU IN THAT IT HELPS THE ECONOMY. That money goes directly to grocery stores, who buy food which ultimately comes from farms, etc., etc. So the expiration of that temporary boost to SNAP is going to hurt YOU TOO.

"According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP), "Without the Recovery Act’s boost, SNAP benefits will average less than $1.40 per person per meal in 2014.” Peter Edelman, a professor of law at Georgetown University, said, "The Republican attack on food stamps is ‘totally counter-factual.’ Millions of people are unemployed and millions more don’t earn enough to pay all their bills. The idea that food stamps, which provide support at one-third of the poverty line, is incentivizing people not to seek jobs that don’t exist anyway is beyond bizarre." In fact, writes Cook, extensive research shows food stamps are a highly effective investment for all Americans, not just the poor. The CBPP found that for every $5 in food stamps, $9 in economic activity is generated. Moreover, food stamps lift millions out of poverty and improve the health of children. “When food stamps get spent,” says Cook, “we all benefit.”
