Right. What kinds of things would you lose if there were no income tax? You know that ending the income tax is as likely as a snowball surviving in hell, don't you? Clearly you've run out of any cogent arguments.
Can you counter the above claim, even with something from a right wing blog which says and explains what the above is not true?
Yes, though doubted by the crazies on the right side of the political spectrum, food stamps are and have always been understood to be an economic stimulus ... at the same time they assist children, seniors and others in need to provide more or better meals.
Quote:
... extensive research shows food stamps are a highly effective
investment for all Americans, not just the poor. The CBPP found that for every $5 in food stamps, $9 in economic activity is generated. Moreover, food stamps
lift millions out of poverty and improve the health of children. “When food
stamps get spent,” says Cook, “we all benefit.”

While people along the way get fed SNAP is really a redistribution of wealth.
Where does that money come from ?
Where does that money end up ?
And along the way government takes its cut.
It goes from your pocket to JPMorgan and the big food companies.
Lifeline got audited and 41% didn't qualify. The audit uncovered that the application information was never verified. The audit also uncovered that they didn't track people and many had several lifeline phones with different carriers. The government took people's word that they weren't making money and also left people on their own to only get one phone.
That all got changed with the audit.
So, what are you complaining about? The system had checks and found fraud, so it was FIXED.
You don't know what kinds of checks the USDA makes regarding food stamp recipients because, as you said, they will not release PRIVATE information. You know that right to privacy thing. However, it would be of great value to you to read through the 1996 Welfare Reform Act and see the restraints set forth there.

If you were a grocery store owner, part of the money would end up in your pocket. The money people spend for food STIMULATES the economy, and ultimately that HELPS YOU. Unless you live on a farm, grow your own food, do not use the highways, do not use gasoline for your car or equipment, and live completely independent of all our infrastructure, then YOU benefit from money spent by SNAP recipients and all other taxes paid.
Btw, where do the big food companies get the food? How many people do you estimate the "big food companies" employ, who then spend their income from those jobs in the community, etc.?

actualy since a good portion of income is never reported...eliminating the income tax would be a good idea
the best tax we could have is a federal consumption tax...eliminate the personal income tax, the corporate tax, all the excise taxes, the estate tax...and have one simple consumption tax
but the fascist liberals will never let go of the POWER the wield with the income tax
$36 from a $600 benefit from a family of four (two parents and one child) is not a "deep cut" says you. Obviously you've never tried to walk a mile in the shoes of those people. Do you even have a clue what $36 will buy in the grocery store?
"Deep" is relative to the amount of money you have to spend on food. If it's no problem for you to spend $800 a month on food for a family of four, then maybe a $36 cut is nothing to you. In fact, many families of four do not even get the federal allowance of $200 per month because different states pay out different maximum amounts, but rarely if EVER more than $200 per person. Even for people who have to live on less than $800 per month, the max benefit now is about $165 in Florida!
Yea, right, $36 is not a "deep cut" IN YOUR OPINION. But you don't have to live in the circumstances of a SNAP recipient.

Well, you're right that the upper end, the most wealthy, and corporations get away with not paying even close to their share. Can't argue with you there. If THEY did have to pay their share of income taxes, our country would be in much better shape. Btw, whatever happened to those temp tax breaks Bush gave the wealthy? Did they expire?
The US has a $2 trillion underground shadow economy that is thriving.
How about a link or some type of substantiation for that claim? What types of things are included in an "underground shadow economy"?
