yeah sure, I'm sure every person who loses coverage this year blames Healthcare Reform. Yet just because a tree falls, doesn't mean the lumberjack cut it down.

"One of the factors I believe contributed to this decision, even if the two companies are disinclined to acknowledge it, is the special tax break that California law gives to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, which has allowed and continues to allow those two companies to avoid paying $100 million in state taxes a year" - Second major health insurer pulls out of California market

The issue is the non-competitive tax breaks given to a preferred insurer, thus making United non-competitive.
So, obviously, these tax breaks just started this year? And that is why those 2 companies are pulling out.....jus this year...really.....lol..........

What I find particularly sad about this thread is this:

If it were 2008 and Obamacare is being debated, and this woman wrote how "I have been diagnosed with stage-IV cancer; I have no health insurance; I want Obamacare to pass to help people like me", the responses of many herein would have been predictable: 'You can always go to the emergency room'; "it is not up to me to pay for your treatment"; "You should have had the foresight to get health insurance", etc. In short, no sympathy for her plight.

Mind, I agree that President Obama made an idiotic statement ("If you like...") that he knew, or should have known, was untrue or was probably untrue. I also feel for this woman (whose cancer is apparently in remission, but she obviously wants to keep her regular cancer doctors for her annual follow-up visits and tests).

I have not seen any solutions offered. I doubt that any viable solution is readily available (since 'repeal Obamacare' is not, to a reasonable person, a viable option at this time). We cannot 'force' health insurance companies to stay in business within a state.

At the least, this woman does have some options, albeit apparently not to her liking. I hope that she can get whatever insurance provider she ends up with to pay for her continuing healthcare with the doctors of her choice (under the 'specialist' exception that many policies have). If it weren't for Obamacare, and she had met the 'cap' under her present policy (as some suggest) she would have been screwed indeed.

How about the lady with stage 4 cancer who survived but is still fighting cancer but now that her insurance policy was canceled due to Obamacare and she will no longer be able to keep the doctors who kept her alive.Do you think it is right that people who were paying should be losing their insurance because of Obamacare?

i can understand why people are upset

i mean, if you're wealthy, you want to have the best coverage money can buy, flying you across the country to the best specialists. obamacare definitely interferes with that business model of insurers offering "affordable luxury coverage" for the wealthy.

Obama's litany of lies..... it's okay if Obama lies to political opponents, his followers think the ends justify the means........ a page right out of Islam that gives permission to lie for a good cause.... not say O is a follower, just saying O read the book.

You can keep your doctor
you can keep your insurance
you can keep your guns

Anybody....anybody...that has been dealing with a health issue as involved as the one this woman has is aware of every dotted I and crossed T in their policy.
I am not going to go find it just for you...I posted it with the link someplace here the other day...but approximately .05 to 1% exceed their policy limits.
I seriously doubt the statement in bold.

I work in pediatrics, and prior to the ACA, we had several patients who had exceeded their limits and had to go on Medicaid. Now, the ACA does not permit caps on kids.

Well, I've seen enough in health care to know that sounds implausible but it might be true.

I've seen the argument by liberals on several threads now that people should like Obamacare because they're just too damn stupid to understand their own policies were not good enough. Give me a break! I am tired of liberals assuming those of us who were happy with our policies that are now being canceled simply were ignorant or somehow unable to understand what we had.

How arrogant of you, I say. You arrogance is leading to assumption which is not based in reality. You find one or two examples and say "see, I was right" while at the same time ignoring or claiming the person must be lying when they tell you that not only were they happy with their plan but it was a good one.

Here's the thing. You're not winning anyone over. You're not being truthful. You're simply trying to polish the turd, so to speak. Obamacare has been bad for many, many Americans and you are clinging to the belief that somehow the President you so adore was not lying. Well, he was. No, we can't keep our insurance if we liked it. No, we cannot keep our doctor (as this woman found out). The President lied and these desperate attempts to make it seem as though people were simply too dumb to understand what they had are pathetic.
