Are you going to dismiss the endeavors of students of institutions of higher learning - in the face of the fact that the University of Chicago -located in your own self-proclaimed home city - has produced some of the greatest thinkers and contributors to the modern world?
I am well over thirty and I grew up in a War a long time ago. I am also left of what passes for Liberal in this country's politics. I am annoyed that the Democratic party has sold us out to the same corporatists that own the Republican party. We need a political party that represents the 90% of us that are not even a little rich instead of a pair of parties the represent the almost rich (Dems) and the really, really rich (Repugnants).
The nation is getting more polarized and colleges are following suit. It's only going to get worse.
While this is true, it isn't exactly a new phenomenon.
In the late 1960's, many college campuses erupted in student protests against the Vietnam War. Many of these students were self identified Democrats, who were attacking a Democrat initiated war.
The self implosion of those Democrats was demonstrated by the election of 1968, in which President Johnson abdicated, Eugene McCarthy was unable to garner much support, and Hubert Humphrey lost to the Silent Majority that supported President Richard Nixon.
Maybe Robert Kennedy could have made a difference, but he was assassinated by yet another Muslim terrorist.
Current colleges and universities tend to be biased liberally.
If there is a protest, then it is likely warranted, and will never be anything like the Democrat led violent protests on college campuses in the late 1960's-early 1970's.

I don't care what their endeavors are but a thread about a college bake sale post on Facebook is a bit much.

On what basis do you label Republicans as being richer than Democrats?
Harrier is anything but rich.
He has had to work for every cent that he has - which isn't much.

It will eventually get bad enough that the people at large get tired of it and then it will fade away. Politicians want to get elected. They will say and do whatever will get them elected.
A month ago, when public opinion was against Republicans, the Democrats voted down a continuing resolution which would have delayed Obamacare for a year and opened up the government. They called the Republicans economic terrorists and anarchists.
Now, with public opinion trending against Obamacare, Democrats have proposed delaying Obamacare.
We are right now experiencing a stark example of politicians simply doing whatever they think will make them popular. You saw a similar thing with Republicans last year following the election. There was a lot of talk on the Republican side about immigration when they thought the hispanic vote had cost them the election. Many of them were perfectly willing to reverse their stance on immigration if it meant getting more votes. Which means they never really had a principled stance on the issue to begin with.
Liberals never have a principled stance on anything.
