1.) Pay off my house and student loan debt ~ $100,000

2.) Put $500,000,000 in my credit union account in order to live and travel the rest of of my days-
Budget of ~$10,000,000 per year for 50+ years should be way more than enough.

3.) Take $10,000,000 to invest in undervalued Philadelphia real estate. Renovate rowhomes with a budget of $50,000 per home or 200 rowhomes for monthly income of ~$200,000 per Month. Mostly all work contracted out but rents will be kept lower than the renovations should dictate.

Donate $489,900,000 to loved ones and charity organizations and causes. Maybe set up some charitable trusts and things of that nature.

Default Honestly, if you were given 1 billion dollars, what would you do with it?

I'd give most of it away, but keep a few million. I'd create a whole bunch more "idle rich" among family and friends.

I'd keep two million, give ten thousand dollars to every close relative, and give the rest to a mixture of organizations. Some might assist foreign nations. Some might assist people in the nation I live in.

If he thinks the American space program is about Star Trek and Star Wars I can assure you he's got zero knowledge of what Canadians did to help get those men home.

(And thank you Canada. )

I would build a(n) internet service to compete with att and comcast, and possibly build a video sharing site to compete with youtube, since google wrecked youtube.
I would also start a motorist rights group for wisconsin, to fight against the bicycle groups bad laws they want to pass.

I think I'd break it down like this:

50% goes to charities that help the less fortunate and animals (legit charities, not ones where 90% of my donation is going to go into the CEO's pocket)

There is a company that I would like to purchase (last I heard the asking price was 300 million)

That leaves 200,000,000. I'd give 100 million out to close friends and family and keep 100 million for my wife and I and our future children and our future grand children.

I'd keep $100,000,000 for pocket change expenses, invest the rest in the Cayman Islands under a bunch of Trusts so my heirs could get anything that's left with minimal tax hit.

Then I'd live like a king off the interest earned on that Cayman principal.

Any other use would have to be carefully considered and probably rejected.

[but, then again, NONE of the above would take place until I had hired a law firm to review contracts, then hired a few high-dollar financial firms to figure the best way to invest in the Cayman Islands...with THEIR contracts reviewed by said first law firm...]
