Total fire bans have been issued across South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania ahead of the extreme heat.
Adelaide's maximum temperature today is expected to be 41 degrees Celsius, with 40C on Friday, 41C on Saturday and 40C on Sunday.
A catastrophic fire danger rating has been issued for the state's lower south-east. Scorching heat to return to southern Australia, total fire bans in place - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

2013 was the seventh warmest year since 1880 (tied with 2009 and 2006), continuing a long-term trend of rising global temperatures. It has been 38 years since we had a year of cooler-than-average temperatures.

Climate Change: News - Long-term global warming trend sustained in 2013

November was the hottest November on record, the worlds average temperature was over 58 degrees. The disturbing part is that each November has been setting the record as the hottest November for decades now (I believe its 33 consecutive years).

This summer when temperatures are broiling, there is a drought across the Western U.S. and fires are burning out of control all the scientifically illiterate trolls who don't believe in science will crawl back under their rocks until next winter.

The conservative trolls don't understand that what is going on outside the trailer may not be happening in the rest of the world. For them, it's all about Wingnut Junction. World? What world? It's hard to get far from the park when you are barely literate and have to drag your knuckles while getting around.

You're wrong. Annual records can be found here. As you can see, the area of the hole on September 17, 1979 was 1.1 million square kilometers. As you can also see, on September 9, 2000 it was 29.9 million square kilometers. So much for you and your claim.
