The 80's was a bad decade for minimum wage seeing that it stayed $3.35 for about 9 years before getting a a $0.45 raise. Hardly what I would call keeping up with inflation.

The government changed how they calculated inflation several times since 1968.

Still doesn't explain why it has to keep up with the inflation.

I was working in the 80's and there was no whining about "living wages".
If people didn't make enough money working at their jobs they found new jobs or took on a part time job.

The "whiners" weren't born yet it seems.

Minimum wage has not been keeping up with inflation, and it doesn't matter how much inflation went up during those years seeing inflation is higher today than it was in the late 70s.

This is based on how it is calculated now.

You might not have been paying attention during the Reagan years, also the access to information wasn't like what it is today. People who were the working poor were very much struggling to stay afloat. It was just easier for politicians to ignore them back then.

Nothing I say will ever explain to you why minimum wage should be tied to inflation because you don't think there is any reason it should be, which is something I can't help you with.

You are aware that comparisons between the before and after methods used show almost no difference whatsoever?

Yes I know theres a right wing web page dedicated to claiming otherwise, I also know that when asked about how exactly they came to their difference claims the response boiled down to "magic" right?

Maybe because the only thing you can come up with is "XYZ country is doing it." Well, XYZ country may also be chopping people's head off.
