I'm not against same-sex marriage, and I'm not homophobic at all, but why is this thing everywhere I look now? Can't they just take care of business like normal marriages should on their own time and place?

Because right now we're not making good on the "All men are created equally" claim that we put on the storefront of this country.

The same-sex marriage issue is everywhere because of the same reason the civil rights struggle was everywhere in the 50s and 60s....it's half past time to right a terrible wrong in this country.

Oh gee, I don't know. Maybe because their right to even marry is still barred in most places?
Once we fully invite the LGBT community into mainstream society, with all its privileges, they'll stop being so vocal and the media will stop making them so apparent because gay marriage will be part of the norm. They'll quiet down once their critics do.
Because this is our revolution? We've fought for the removal of slavery, votes for women, better working conditions, to end segregation, and now equal rights for marriage.

No one is forcing your to marry someone of the same sex. There are many legal benefits to marriage and all they are after is the same rights different sex marriages benefit from.

Given your choice of words, that's debatable.
Guess what: If you're LGBT, hetero marriage is EVERYWHERE. People "announce" their sexuality all the time, most visibly when referencing or in the company of their partner/spouse and kids. For many Americans, their sexuality defines them, if they were to THINK about it for five or more seconds.
The second two LGBT persons are more "obvious" than two people (could otherwise have "passed" as friends, siblings, colleagues etc) merely sitting together in a restaurant, for example, it's "shoving SSM down our throats."
