Yes but for some this seems to not be enough. For me it was. I understood. Been talking to people bout this, since I am sick in bed. Some feel it was not enough. Think it depends on who you ask.

That is one hell of a damn good valid point! No longer true because of those who run this Country.

What do you mean by "conform"? Is it unacceptable to expect immigrants to assimilate to our language and culture within a reasonable length of time? I don't mean that they have to toss aside their native ones but just asking that they blend in when out in mainstream instead of standing out. Yes, times have changed in this new progressive, PC world and not for the better, IMO. Balkinization and divisiveness seem to be the desired society today by same.

So everyone is on the Coca Cola Adverts, and it represents a cross section of communities. Although I did notice the morbidly obese community weren't represented, you know the people who have become so fat they have to go around in mobility scooters, often due to their poor diet and the high sugar content of drinks such as Coca Cola and Pepsi. I wonder why they weren't singing along on this advert.

Excellent post and I so agree with you. Yes, singing it in English would have shown that they respect the language of this country and want to be part of it rather than separate from it. This has nothing to do with racism as some are implying in here (the usual suspects I might add). These same people who usually have ethnic ties to another country or its citizens would be up in arms if that country's identity were to be blurred in that manner.

I saw a handful of whites, but they were blurred, obscured, or we just saw the backs of their heads. Nowadays diversity means mostly minorities and they just wanted to reinforce that point.

Coke can do whatever they want, it's their company. Find something relevant to whine about.

Our forefathers welcomed peoples from all lands to the home of the free. If you don't like that then I suggest you move to some other country.
Yes, they are the "descendants". That is your clue. I am a descendant of Germans but I was born here and am all American. I don't wish to flout any of my German ancestry because I don't identity with them. No one said we shouldn't welcome immigrants. This is about assimilation once they get here.

You've had generations to fit in and adopt an "American" identity, whatever that means. Meanwhile, you all will scream until you're blue that somebody who has been here a year isn't "American enough". Guarantee when your ancestors first came here they still spoke German, at least at home. Are you so insecure in your own beliefs that a child singing in their first language is offensive? Beyond that, they all know and speak English, but the point of it was they can all come together to form America. That is the underlying point that the righties are incapable of seeing.
