Go read Loving v. Virginia and you will clearly see where that "obscure part of the 14th amendment" does in fact apply to state civil marriage laws.
I am not opposed to gay marriage, but I do not think the principles in the two instances are the same. Gay marriage is about state recognition of aberrant sexual attraction, practices and behaviors. Interracial heterosexual couples are indistinguishable from any other heterosexual couple other than the minor genetic differentiation we label as race.
I didn't suggest that you did. But that's a nice evasion on your part.
The question that you have refused to answer is why you would deny benefits that you receive via marriage to your fellow citizens?
