This is my concern. I don't care who the majority is.. but there should be an English language requirement. Too many people born here shouldn't have to just up and learn Spanish.
55% of the words in the English language come straight from Latin so Spanish speaking people already have an advantage to begin with. There's no excuse not to learn English.
LOL...I was gonna say that in a 1000 years, the GOP may be deversified by then.
Get real and face the truth.. the democrats with the help of the main stream media constantly rip down any person who is so called diversified that runs for office in the GOP party.
The dems don't like that a black person runs for office as a Republican.. they are labeled an oreo, an uncle sam or worse.
Uh; when did slavery by white people in the US end?
Tho I guess it still lives on by way of the "crab pot": some Black people do want to break free of ghetto hood rat life but, many of the other Blacks DON'T want the 1st group to stop "keeping it real". Sure sounds like slavery to me but; the "masters" are now Black, NOT white.
If you don't know when it ended, look it up.
Moreover, I "keep it real" and I don't have a master
BTW....are you capable of making a post without using "hoodrats" in it?

This constant meme about Latinos not wanting to learn English is tiresome and inaccurate. They're no different than previous generations of immigrants, such as Italian-Americans in terms of language acquisition rate. Sure, Grandma (Nonna, Abulita, obaa-chan - take your pick) probably is hard pressed to learn it, but the kids and young adults learn it faster. And successive generations tend not to retain their mother tongue.
I'm a 2nd gen Chinese American who speaks Mandarin most of the time to my daughter, but she always answers back mostly or wholly in English. Not unlike my immigrant parents and me.

If over 50% Americans are Hispanics, the situation is different.
Hispanic kids will be speaking Spanish in school too, and thus are more likely to speak Spanish at home.

I was born and raised in Latin America, and now I speak English most of the time in my house. Both my parents speak fluent English, too.

Well, nearby in my area, there are schools that are 50% Chinese - and I don't see them using Mandarin in school predominately. They probably do speak Chinese at home, but that doesn't preclude language acquisition of English.
