If these kids did the same thing at Duke or Stanford, which are private schools, you wouldn't have a problem, correct? You just don't like it because this school is public, right?
You pretty much pay your own way in a private school, community college, not so much. When it is publicly funded, you have no right to exclude anyone, this includes parks, swimming pools etc. You see after civil rights it goes both ways, it does not lean to one side any more. So now you have to allow whites, just like we now have to allow blacks, get it?
The bottom line is that we have someone at a public institution dictating the exclusion of another race from a gathering.
Regardless of the persons race, it's wrong to do that.
Anyone defending such actions should take a long deep look inward and I hope they consider joining us in 2014.
Especially in a society that is increasingly blended. Should they exclude someone from attending that is 3/4 irish and 1/4 mexican? Should they exclude someone that is only 1/8 black? Do you hold up a sherwin williams paint strip at the door and state that you must be darker than "majestic tan" to gain admission?
Really, what is wrong with people thinking this is ok? I guess your motto is "Eff the content of your character, if you aren't the right color".....sheesh, did we just skip back to 1914?
If the tables were turned and that memo excluded Blacks heads would have rolled.
It's not "racist" though..just a "mistake".
Why is it ok for one race to do this but not another ?
Exclusion of one race by another is racist.
Because you have idiots out there that do not believe it's actual racism if it's committed against whites. You will see them ask about "reverse racism". They do not comprehend that there is no such thing as "reverse racism", it's fricken racism no matter what color is targeted.
I think the meeting was serving as a support group for people of color that stems around the racism that they experience on campus. I feel the meeting was trying to avoid the discourse of what is and what isn’t racism. Basically, the meeting organizer was trying to avoid what happens on these types of threads.
