I'll concur that much of what is taught in school could be called "brainwashing" in a light sense of the term.

But since we're debating evolution here and not education, why don't you go ahead and tell us what your alternate theory is? Saying your opponents are wrong and leaving it at that is pretty unscientific, among other things.

Why does there need to be an alternate theory?

Simply teach natural history - and leave evolution as an elective similar to Bible class or world religions.

While the evolution-deniers are armed with deep, incisive queries like "If we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?"

I was debating evolution with the guy. He was saying that mutations over time wouldn't lead to evolution, and I asked him what his theory was that would prevent genomes from diverging.

Your idea is not a bad one. I really think they should throw out the entire school curriculum and start over from scratch. Get rid of parents & bureaucrats who have pre-set agendas on what they think kids ought to know, and put the focus on giving a minimum of useful information and instead developing the skills needed to acquire information and otherwise succeed in life.

You're all bold claims and no proof.

Makes about as much sense.
