"They can't make that movie today because everybody's so politically correct. You know, the NAACP would stop a great movie that would do such a great service to black people because of the N-word," says Brooks. "You've got to really examine these things and see what's right and what's wrong. Politically correct is absolutely wrong. Because it inhibits the freedom of thought. I'm so lucky that they weren't so strong then and that the people that let things happen on the screen weren't so powerful then. I was very lucky." Mel Brooks

One of the best, funniest movies of all time.

And no, it couldn't be made today. Yet rapsters use the word all the time and think it's fine.

I pay zero attention to race baiters. When they clean their own house, I'll start paying attention.

Django Unchained and Black Dynamite both came out within the last five years, on the other hand, so...

It is true; we have slowly but surely chipped away at freedom of expression. Blazing Saddles, and many other works of art, would today be denounced as "microaggresions" by liberals.

I cannot even imagine what it would be like to go through life worrying about being a "microaggresor".

While I do not go out of my way to offend people, I am certainly not going to become PC, much less worry about this liberal wackos theory.

Rocky Horror Picture Show would also have problems being made today. That's not to say these movies couldn't be made but they would have to be privately funded because the big movie houses wouldn't touch them. Much of that is movies cost so much more today than they did 40 or 50 years ago so the studios are much more risk adverse. They prefer to go with sequels, established brands, or copy cats of other successful films rather than risk something new. When a movie could be made for $1 million they could risk something new and not lose their shirt if it didn't fly but when movies cost hundreds of millions of dollars to make suddenly they want sure things.
