The law allows the same quantity of weeks allowed for many different circumstances. It's a perfectly fair, well balanced approach. Biology should not be a business consideration, but for that to occur, special treatment should never be legislated based on gender.

In the US they don't give great benefits to you just because you have a heartbeat and breath through your mouth. You have to earn it. That's why we are 100X the country Canada will ever be.
ROTFLMAO! If you say so.
I guess that's why we're wealthier, better-educated, healthier and happier than you'll ever be....because you're 100 times better than us.

They do, here. Either parent can take about a year off.

Companies would not hire women at all if the government did not force them too. Women are just not worth the hassle. The medical and pregnancy issues pale in comparison to the real problem: so much drama. If you have ever supervised women, you know what Im talking about.

Well, you are talking about hours and productivity. Plenty of studies show the reverse.
Among professors, the women reported greater numbers of hours worked per week and greater numbers of administrative and professional activities than did the men.
Activities, productivity, and compensation of men a... [Acad Med. 2010] - PubMed - NCBI

Paternity leave exists in other developed countries. This isn't a benefit exclusive to women.

Its called FMLA. It is a right. Most larger companies offer a few options. Use vacation to make it paid time off. Take time off unpaid. DB insurance.
Women have an equal right to use FMLA as men.
Maternity leave. Often a part of DB insurance. By the way men can also apply for Maternity leave to help their wife.
