I said it before and will again. Tipping is a personal choice and it is based upon the quality of food and service. When I eat out it is because I expect to get quality food, without hassle, and in a timely manner. If I don't receive good food and or service I won't reward it with a tip.
As far as blacks being bad tippers? I haven't seen it. If blacks on average make less than whites on average I would expect lower tips based upon lower income.
Don't tip bad service and don't tip for bad food.
Some black people may be strapped financially and it is reflected in their tips to others
I think it is worse to see a rich person take things for free because of who they are. Plus giving to a rich person (and they usually take all the freebees given, )than giving to a poor person to me this is giving a privilege to the wealthy that shouldn't be.
Nope it was a cultural thing and all Asians, Hispanics and Whites I served were mostly civil and actually tipped well. Blacks are just crappy tippers and this study proves my real life experience. Truth hurts.
A cultural thing? I hate to say this, but you do not strike me as an expert on culture.
If you can not afford to pay tips you should not be going to a restaurant that requires tips. There are plenty of restaurants that do not require tips to go to.

As a Black woman, I over tip....sometimes above 50%, especially at places I visit frequently. I also noticed it depends on the region. New Mexico as a state tends to have issues with people of all races that are poor tippers. Think it's a class issue more than a race thing. I tip well because I have worked in the service industry when I was a young college student.
I have a feeling that the people feel like a tip is too much money over the amount of their meal. They'd rather keep the money than give it to the wait staff. or maybe they really dont have much money and dont think they can spare it.
If that is the case they should go to McDonald's or Taco Bell to eat. No excuse to not tip the wait staff.
yeah but who wants to eat only at McDonalds. Everyone wants a nice dinner, especially a sunday dinner out. If they can afford a $12.00 dinner, and only tip $1.00,, they CAN find another dollar to give the wait staff.
I feel this way, this server is busting their butt to serve my fat butt, they deserve that extra dollar because they are waiting on me.
