Boy, these people are sure helping promote open carry, right? Or even gun rights in general?

Target asks its customers to keep their guns out of stores

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this. America's obsession with firearms has gotten out of hand. It's their store, they have the right to ask people to keep their firearms out.

Oh, I am not disagreeing that Target has that right, but Target really did not want to do that, but these open 'flaunt' folks more or less forced them.

I'm a gun owner but it never occurred to me to bring my gun to Target with me.

I don't agree with the radicals who wave their long guns all around in public and I would never do that, but I'm also not opposed to guns and as long as Target doesn't have the appropriate 30.06 sign posted, I will continue to carry concealed in their stores in Texas. I will follow the law and if they don't want concealed handgun carriers in their stores, then they need to post the appropriate signage as required by law. I will follow the law, but I'm not going to take my gun out of my purse and leave it in the car just to go into Target if I am carrying, and just because Target "requests" it.

And, it isn't that I feel the "need" to carry a gun in Target; it's that if I NEED a gun in Target (think the Austin Walmart just a couple of years ago), I sure want to have it!

I don't think most rational folks have a problem with concealed carry. It's a case of out of sight, out of mind. The problem is with these idjits who feel the need to openly carry long guns in public, common courtesy be damned.

It's akin to someone who's morbidly obese going into public with a tube top and spandex on. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Put it this way, if the NRA comes down on you for being too reckless with guns, youve got issues.

Sometimes I think these open carry advocates actually work for Micheal Bloomberg.

I've seen it suggested that these people are indeed trying to fan the flames for more gun control. I'm for gun rights but it would probably scare me to death to see the guns open like that- at least initially. Another concern is for those with their legally concealed handgun who might obviously misconstrue what was going on should they run into this situation in a store.
