Stop it, please. If we're gonna play THAT game: NO country has a def "identity" since all places copy/paste from other places over different things.
I don't buy that. English, French, and Russian culture are pretty unique.
The USA has some pretty unique characteristics too. For example, football is uniquely American. Using the poor as scapegoats is pretty American. The fake friendly persona is somewhat American. Individualism is very American.
It would be a bad thing, because, as you so unwittingly point out, the focus on racial conflict will INCREASE, not decrease, as we balkanize into competing groups for government favor.
If you believe government exists to defend the minority from the majority... remember that the only true minority is the individual - as the individual is unique, and anything that tramples on the individual in favor of any group or defined population, is violating the smallest minority in favor of a larger group - ie, tyranny.
In a world that supposedly values diversity, why is homogenization of ethnic groups considered a good thing? Valuing diversity means retaining a measure of diversity, or at least not damning it.
Also, the myth that we will all mix into a world of love and harmony is a myth/lie. Certain groups will never mix and, due to the considerably stronger nature of group power that is rooted in ethnic community, they will retain political power over the groups that do.
ALL groups have to mix, or none should for political parity to be upheld. Because it will be impossible for all groups to mix, the morality of idealizing widespread mixing has to be questioned. Groups that mix, en masse, have to question if they are subjecting their children to long-term political vulnerability and powerlessness in the face of stronger ethnic groups. The strength of the individual is a lie. Political strength comes from group power and community co-operation. This community co-operation, as well as inter-personal trust, has been proven to be significantly eroded in multi-ethnic communities. As these inter-personal dynamics go, so goes political power. If they go for some groups and not others, the remaining co-operative groups will be able to control the uncooperative groups.
Let's consult history and modern politics for confirmation. Look at any heavily mixed country. Is the mixed population in charge? I can't think of a single country wherein the mixed population has any significant power over aristocratic non-mixed ethnicities. Mexico and Brazil immediately come to mind as two examples of powerful nations wherein my model plays out in exactly the manner that I predict. My opinion is that you are being scammed out of your political power, and potential political power, by being fed ideals that work directly to erode community cohesion. Even people who think they will either gain political power, or weaken their oppoenents, by mixing will be disappointed in the ultimate result because stronger opponents will remain and no power will be gained. Even worse, the potential to gain power will be eliminated. These statements are race and culture neutral and thus they hold true for all groups.
I don't believe that any group should be subjugated, even under groups that are naturally more powerful due to their stronger and more effective community cohesion. Unfortunately, the only way to prevent this subjugation is to retain and grow political power through cultivating community strength and cohesion (that is always rooted in culture). There will be no way to give up grassroots political power and expect to be treated well. Instead, political power should be cultivated and, eventually, a world system should be set up that monitors inter-ethnic politics without favoring any one group. This is the way toward world peace. It's not through politically dangerous homogenization that would likely lead to a permanent decrease in quality of life, through a decrease in political power, for all affected groups.
Some people are worried that if the Hispanic population keeps growing that crime will grow as well. Hispanics commit more crimes as a percent of their population than whites or asians. They also have a lower high school graduation rate.
What that means is an increase in the number of criminals and high school drop outs. We will have less people to fill higher paying occupations. It will be an increase in poor people and criminals.
Unless someone can come up with a solution to graduate more hispanics and lower the crime rate.

Another problem is that a good percentage of the Hispanic population is via illegal immigration and anchor babies. It is a culture of tribalism that trumps our immigration laws. How can that be good for our nation?
In Central American, Asian, African and Arab countries, white people are the minority, so from their perspective we are a majority minority country, and at the rate they are breaking down the door to get into this country, they evidently see it as a good thing. A much better 'thing' than in the countries they are fleeing from.
