Theodore Roosevelt was an uber "Progressive," so he is not a model for any Republican who values Liberty and the ideas of limited government. He may be a model for the RINO's, and also for Democrats, who espouse "Progressive" ideas (which is all of them).

So, Bugsy, what in your mind is the source of such actions? Sounds like you are justifying, so it will be interesting to see your 'historical' take. TIA

The difference was that US citizens, especially those BORN in the US were locked up for the "crime" of being of at least part Japanese family and word was many Hispanics also of Japanese family were "deported" TO the US from LatAm and also locked up in those camps.

The Cold War killed Progressivism, in part because of FDR's blind spot towards Stalin during WWII.

Progressivism II will be killed by reckless spending and the corruption it creates.

Robin Hood must have started the progressive movement!

The young contemporary Teddy might have attended and Earth Day Rally, watched the Great ships sail into New York Harbor in 1976 or was glued to the TV when Apollo 11 reached the Moon. So I wouldn't be so sure that TR wouldn't be one of the champions of political correctness. Also , when translated 50-70 years the team of FDR and ER would look a lot like Bill and Hilliary Clinton (eve the domestic arrangements)

Well since we are talking in fantasy terms, yes anything is possible.

When most people say so & so would be spinning in their grave or the like, they are talking about the person and who they were. They are not speculating that if the person were born in a different era that they would be the same.
So when I say TR would be a certain way, it is not based on your reasoning. In reality if such a thing were possible, you could say anyone might be different depending on when they were raised. That would include Hitler, Stalin, Clinton, Reagan, etc.

My speculation is based on TR being plunked down in 2014 as if he could travel though time. Rest assured he would be dead set against hyphened-Americans and everything else PC. He would still be for conservation, and making sure we were the most powerful country in the world.
He had both progressive and conservative beliefs for his time, but he would undoubtedly fit better into todays (R) party than that of the (D's). Rest assured that he would be a man of action, and would bridge the divide of both parties to get things accomplished.

BTW - Not all people born in the late 50's - early 60's turned out to be liberals even if they were enjoying Led Zeppelin.

No one is going to answer the question!!! NAME A SINGLE RIGHT WING OR VERY CONSERVATIVE PRESIDENT THAT WAS GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY. Do you know why none of the resident RWNJs will chime in? It's because there never has been a single one. Regression and reaction is ALWAYS NEGATIVE it ALWAYS retards progress and it Always greatly benefits a small % of the people at the expense of everyone else. There are no exceptions to this rule in the real world.

Today is the day that Scotland is deciding to stay in the UK or not. After 300 years of union they very well might leave and go it alone. Now, the reason for this has nothing to do with nationalism and in fact the immigrant population is mostly in favour. Do you know why this is the case? The Scots might leave the UK so that they NEVER have to endure another Conservative RWNJ government ever again. It's the main factor fueling the debate.
