She is a devoted nurse that wants to make a difference, I doubt that many of the nurses and doctors over there care about compensation and they are severely understaffed. I am sure this latest action will do nothing but make health care workers think twice before they volunteer.

Where is the WHO getting the funding you suggest, looks like they are more dependent on private donations.
Doctors without Borders recommends those returning not go back to work for 21 days. They continue to pay for 21 days. Instead, they recommend those returning take it easy and allow their imune systems to recover from the rigors, which most definitely are not limited to Ebola.

The experts say it's transmitted through bodily fluids, maybe the Governors medical staffs knows better.
These doctors and nurses know more about the disease than anyone here, they have seen it first hand and survived. I think we should have more respect for their expertise, the last thing they want to do is infect their immediate family and friends. These workers are heroes the last thing we need to do is place them in a tent with a porta-potty after risking their lives.

We need to stop this at it's source and we need these volunteers, if we keep taking actions like this we won't have anyone to solve this problem and it will end up here one way or another.

That is sensible guidance, prudent self monitoring and spend 21 days at home. There is no shortage of diseases in those areas Ebola is just one, looks like the flu has taken a back seat to Ebola.

If the government says " Don't worry about it"... worry about it. Likewise if they say " Worry about it" ... DON'T worry about it.

My best guess is for purposes of international insurance, medical and liability.

The Doctors without Borders comp package is not comparable to US earnings in a hospital.

Speculation on my part that hospitals may require " the volunteer" to turn over their " volunteer pay" in exchange for remaining on the hospital payroll, similar to jury duty compensation.

Here it is again, these "experts". Are you talking to Flordia Bob's experts?

I don't know about you, but anyone i've seen as an expert has been on point/same point regarding this illness.

now if you start including idiot 1 (John Kerry) idiot 2 (Christie) and idiot 3 (Bloomberg) well then . . .you don't know an expert from a self serving politician.

In some cases, Ebola hazard will be covered as a rider.

Many of these ^ policies also exclude Acts of Terrorism unless a separate ride is purchased.

Not all Travel & Accident insurance is alike. The cheapest policies tend to be chock full of exclusions, including pre- existing conditions. The more costly Trip Cancellation policies enable a Cancel ( your trip) for any reason. So if someone with a high quality policy decides to cancel their vacation at the last minute for any reason, including fear of travel, they typically will be reimbursed 90 % of sunk in non- refundable costs.

The " abundance of caution" thing is inconsistent with science.

Perhaps the international protocol of contact tracing and disinfection is more appropriate in the affected countries where people with advanced Ebola are holed up in their shacks, found dying on the streets and/ or present with advanced symptoms at hospitals. People in these physical states are not out and about, bowling.

Thus far, none of five diagnosed outside of Africa , in Spain and the U.S. ,have infected anyone else despite multiple connecting international flights, layovers, 2 domestic flights ( nurse 2), assorted human interactions, bridal dress shopping, dining out and so on. These outcomes are consistent with the science supported by WHO, Doctors without Borders and CDC.

It is not however, nearly enough of a out of Africa track record to discontinue the " abundance of caution" protocol.
