Truly what a ridiculous "poll". This is a rant masquerading as a "poll" aimed at those that deny global warming and to confirm their beliefs. C-D seems to full of people who make insipid "polls" to support one cause or another with no attempt whatsoever at impartiality. My guess for this phenomena is that the poll writer is so uncertain and unsure of his position that he must rig the poll. Really quite sad.

Please enlighten me as to how this is not impartial!
Choice numbers 1 and 2 are diametrically opposed to what I believe about this issue but I tried to represent them honestly. I would have thought #2 would represent most of the people who support the consensus view on AGW here.
My own choice was #5 and I really do not agree with #6, yet it is the second most popular choice.
I think you are just unhappy with the way the wind is blowing in this poll, but by all means, you are more than welcome to create your own poll that more accurately and impartially reflects the different viewpoints.
But please, since you brought this up..
How would you describe your position on the issue since it apparently differs from the choices below?
How would YOU describe the various different positions we see in these debates?
Quote:
1) Our understanding of climate science is not advanced enough to truly predict what will happen but we need to motivate the public and the politicians towards doing the right thing with economic policy and environmental policy. This also represents the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world, while limiting capitalism.
2) I believe in the science as well as the professionalism of the scientists who tell us that we need to act fast and that this is a dire emergency. This crucial effort is being actively stymied by deniers who are paid off or influenced by corporate and big oil interests. Conservative political views as well as strict religious views also sway people to deny the science.
3) I think it’s an important problem but don’t necessarily buy into all of the alarmism and the fear mongering. Clean energy and reducing pollution are important goals so even if the science is shown to be wrong, we are doing the right thing.
4) This is a natural cycle. The climate always changes. It’s hubris to think that we can significantly change the environment as it has changed many times and much more dramatically in the past when mankind and industrialization were not as much a factor.
5) The scientific community has been largely corrupted by politics, activism, greed and dogma. I think the basic science is sound but the data gathering and dissemination is subject to manipulation and cherry picking in order to paint a specific picture and to motivate action. There is an active effort to marginalize and diminish skeptics as well as an active effort to subvert the scientific process in favor of dogma and consensus over blind, impartial science.
6) This issue is nothing more than a smokescreen to raise taxes, reduce or destroy capitalism and promote socialism.
Since it's a complex issue with lots of opinions, multiple choice has been turned on in case one of these views does not entirely represent your stance.

The author of said poll is obviously a denialist, and said poll was merely created as a way to preach to the choir.
A recent poll of Republicans found that around 70% of them don't believe mankind is causing climate change, while a similar poll of Democrats found that around 25% don't believe mankind is causing climate change.
The good news is, while one party is scientifically illiterate, that minority in that party, combined with Democrats, means a slight majority of Americans know that mankind is causing global warming. And that number will grow.
I was watching Graham Nash on Morning Joe earlier this week, and he said what many others believe about climate change who are not studying the science of it. He realizes its impact and called it one of the greatest threats to mankind. "No planet, no job" was one way he put it. But more importantly, he said "Don't Exxon executives and the Koch Brothers have children and grandchildren? How much is enough for these people, and at what cost profit?"
That's what many people think, those who don't study the science but are smart enough to know their eyes are not lying. Others tell themselves their eyes are lying and listen to conservative carnival barkers instead of scientists, and you do wonder, mentally, what is wrong with these people.
