Yes. East Asians (Chinese, Japanese, Koreans) are seen by whites more as the model minority. They are usually lighter skinned, are more educated and have higher incomes than Southeast Asians and Pacific Islanders who are usually darker skinned, who do more menial jobs, are lower income earners.
That depends on where you are. In California and maybe in New York, the nuances may be more recognized. In most of the country, however, people who are discriminatory against "Orientals" are only going to notice eye shape and lump anyone with an epicanthic fold into that one bucket regardless of skin tone.

That can get weird real fast: I've met several anglo white people with those "Asian" eyes; sometimes those eyes are bright blue!
Many black people and latinos do quite well also, in spite of the great barriers that bigots place before them every step of the way. They are not the focus of the media however. Conservatives would never focus on them since they destroy their notion that blacks and latinos are lazy, undesirable, criminally-inclined people who would rather collect welfare than work, go to school, and strive for all that is high and noble.
The asians and indians I know all complain about racism, even while some of them practice racism against blacks and latinos.
