The point of all of the above quotes (in case you missed it) is Putin is decisive and Obama is not. It has nothing to do with how right or wrong you think the decisions are from either men. People like decisive leaders. It's why I included some lefty issues, too. They want Obama to be more decisive. Like one of the quote in my previous post says, He makes these commanding powerful speeches that people really like and then he's absent or very slow on the follow up action making people frustrated or disappointed.

Haven't you ever had a boss that takes forever to make a decision? That has to check with a bazillion people before he does something?

A militaristic thug with a rubber-stamp parliament is what American conservatives claim we need more of. Gotcha.

Putin has nearly complete control over major media and uses it to shape public perception. Fox News, Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Alex Jones, let alone a SNL parody of Putin would not be allowed.

US Fans of Putin are unlikely to have spent any time in Russia.

Corruption is obvious, rampant and palatable within government, corporations and individuals.

Russian mafia organizations are prolific and substantially involved in drug and human trafficking.

VAT and federal Sales tax is 25%. Corporations pay a flat tax of about 25% on net profits, after all other taxes including a 22% pension tax. It's common stuff to keep two sets of books, government and actual. Government employees expect to be paid off to overlook the obvious.

World's leader in smoking and alcohol consumption. 2/3 of all violent crimes and murders involve alcohol. Alcohol is a factor in more than half of all deaths over age 15.

The suicide rate is more than 4 times the rate in the US.

Heroin capital of Europe.

Highest rate of abortion in the reporting world.

Highest per capita of Muslims in the western world.

Healthcare is a constitutional right and healthcare insurance is mandatory. Actual healthcare depends on location and bribes. There is an acute shortage of healthcare in rural areas.

Life expectancy for males is 65. ( see alcoholism) Pensions for women begin at age 55 and age 60 for men whereby people are removed from the unemployment statistics. Private pension funds were siezed by the government.

Communal living remains common in the cities as does multi generational family living, everywhere. A family tends to be assigned one small room in a larger apartment. Rents are substantially higher than rents in the US, as a percentage of take home pay and square footage.

The wealthy live quite well as they do everywhere.

Russia does palaces, cathedrals, ballet, circus, vodka and public subway transportation, well.

We are a great country he has stated such many times but owning up to our mistakes rather than covering them up is what makes our country different than places like Russia.
2001?

Where's Mircea to set the record straight?

Unlike in mother Russia, which you clearly admire, in US we have three branches of government, and the presidents don't get to do everything they wish.

Of course today we are told Obama doesn't do anything, and tomorrow we are told he "shreds the Constitution" and does what he wants like ........Putin (). Interestingly you admire those kinds of actions when Putin does them, and hate them when Obama does them, and when Obama does NOT do them you call him weak and indecisive, as if you wanted him to do it

Listen to yourself.

Hitler was decisive. Stalin was decisive. Would you prefer to have one of them as a leader rather than someone who is thoughtful and not impulsive? Or someone who admits he was wrong?

You are also lifting out of context one "point" from an article with many. Other points made were that Putin is basically a dictator and people are not free to express their opinions.

Did you ever read about the East Germans who had a a chance to escape but returned? Or people who like living under a dictator, as some did with Saddam and some do with Castro? Some people like not having to make their own decisions. I imagine there are Russians who feel this way.

It's amazing, ain't it?

American conservatives slobbering all over a Russian leader.

It's gonna be nice to have a white president again. That way, I won't have to hear conservatives whining all the time.

Take that back...they NEVER stop whining. Silly me.

Of course, "Obamacare" is a great example, and I'm glad you brought it up. Making healthcare accessible to those previously unable to get it, and using this example as "totalitarianism" shows the ideological divide, and is only one example.

It is why you and yours love Vladimir Putin, George Walker Bush and Richard Cheney.
Russia's constitution grants the right to healthcare to everyone. Healthcare insurance is mandatory via payroll deductions and augmented by general revenues. The U.S. makes healthcare insurance mandatory and people go nuts.
They would rather impose their healthcare risks on government than take responibility for themselves.

Ironically, subsidies for those who can't afford insurance are substantially resented.

There are not only Russians who feel this way, there are Americans who would love to live under a dictatorial strongman like Vladmir Putin.

And they are 100% conservative in number, as well. This appeal is particularly strong with a political element in the U.S. that calls itself the "Tea Party"
