I agree with you.

The companies, cheap labor lobby could care less about public benefits, unemployment rates and rest of the pathologies that an excess of immigrants can bring. And they turn very nasty when criticized.

Most people who believe the current crop of legal immigrants and illegal aliens pay their way believe so because they only look at the employer and employee relationship and the fact that the foreign born might pay some taxes, but fail to reflect the massive subsidies for expenses (medical, educational, etc) for by others who do not benefit from that employer and employee relationship.

It's arrogance in the extreme to puff our feathers and pretend we're superior to everyone else on the planet. Kind of like white supremacists thinking they're better than everyone else. I'm 68, have lived in eight other states and three other countries, served in the military, voluntarily, in the 60s and 70s and I'll tell you what's dangerous besides incoming. What's of peril to my country are those who disparage it, see only its failings, will take another country any day yet don't have the power of their conviction to go there and do that. It's not only absurd, it's dangerous.

It is debatable,we can't be the best on everything,it's just impossible.
Many countries are as wealthy without the wars, the city violence, without our debts, with less uninsured people,so we can't be the best,we're just one of the best.

That's very subjective and depends on what you value. I certainly enjoy living here, but then again I was born and raised here so I'm adapted to the culture here. If I was born and raised in Germany, perhaps Germany would be the best country for me. Even as an American I could see Canada being a nicer fit in some ways.

Might need to make myself a little bit clear here. America is the best country for ME, I can only speak for myself anyway. I've been to many countries and I still choose America because America gives me a sense of belonging. Something a lot of people just will never "get."

It is all subjective, I agree.

That's fair. We can go on about this stat or that stat, but at the end of the day the only thing that matters is which country is best for the individual. And that can only be determined... individually.

fair question. people hate the truth, jesus was truth that is why they killed him. galileo spoke much truth almost got him killed.
when you tell the truth people get angry especially if its about their stuff. people lie to themselves and then they go lie to others. we believe what is convenient and makes us feel good about ourselves.
which is usually lies.
the hardest truth to face is in the mirror.

People are annoyed and irritated by anyone or anything that doesn't conform to the standard and casual 'Status Quo'. I've noticed people are always 'clique' oriented and seem to run in packs as well. Anyone who has an opinion that doesn't match theirs is an outcast. It never matters if their heads are screwed on straight and their opinion is whacko. It's the vast majority and what they believe. Your location and upbringing has a lot to do with how you end up as an adult. It's scary to know what all is out there at times. What East coast and West coast thinks and does is not normally what a Midwest person would do or say. My response to that is if the Country doesn't have a heart, it would DIE! Sometimes people forget what made this Country so great. It's all taken for granted and laughed upon. Never forget that men and women died to give that to you. For those who know, you can make a difference just by listening to them talk. It seems the people who have a radical agenda don't want to listen. Hell, if they did they would KNOW who they are messing with. Now if you will excuse me, I will wonder off with my Dr. Pepper and sanity.....lol
