Obviously you don't think the slavery years were worse if "years ('46-64) are some of the worst years i could ever imagine".
Is this 1946-64 in America or elsewhere in the world? I couldn't imagine anyone choosing to live through that period in, for example, China. Even Western Europe might not be the easiest place to live in the years immediately following WW2.
The desirability of that period in America to an individual would depend upon whether they are white and heterosexual. Few blacks and gays (and no gay African-Americans) would choose to return to that period. It was a great time to be straight and white - but not so great if one was not both.
I'd rather be in Hell than in America at any time pre-1964.
I doubt that if you actually experienced both and were given the choice afterwards you would lean that way. I did make a comment to my wife one time that I should've been born in the 60's and she was like "why, so women are more oppressed?" I really just wanted a time where being a white male didn't mean you were an ******* automatically, but I get it. It's a lot more privileged that I ever understood.
No. I'm black. The past is an anathema to me. I look forward, not backwards. History isn't my friend, and as paraphrased by a great modern day (white) comedian, black folks don't have the luxury of playing with time machines that go backwards.
Maybe you wanna go back because you're a failure in contemporary times. Got news for you...you'd probably fare no better in the past either.
i have to agree with DD. i also prefer to look forward not backwards. i grew up in the 60s and 70s, and trust me the times today are better than they were then.
