I think it depends on your circumstance. If you were a divorced single woman with children it was not the nicest time for you. If you were black, it wasn't the nicest time for you. If you suffered post traumatic stress syndrome from WWII, it wasn't the nicest time for you. If you were gay, it wasn't the nicest time for you. If you weren't... well you get the picture.
But I wold have liked to live as an adult then; to see/buy everything as it was so new and exciting.
I would have died for a poodle skirt and some saddle shoes They were just too cool Not to mention babydoll pajamas for women. If I had known they would stop making them, I would have stole every pair my mom ever owned
We had a divorced woman on our block. She was ostracized by all. We, the good families of the block, were not allowed to go near her yard and were discouraged from playing with her kids. Never go in her house! As time went on, things changed a bit.

That's just wrong your neighbors having that attitude. Not all divorced ladies are "bad girls".

Back in the day the gay (original definition) divorcee was a threat to wives everywhere and young men were warned to avoid them. Rather humorous given today's standards. Now they'd be called cougars.
Pro: jobs for everyone, politicians did theirs, medical costs under control, college degree was worth it. Cons: racism, no Medicare, no cell phones, only max 9 TV channels, no internet, air travel too expensive.

You had nine channels? Wow! Without cell phones people talked to one another face to face rather than texting, tweeting, twerking or whatever they do now. Sometimes I think no Internet was a blessing in many ways. As for air travel, at least people dressed nicely for it; church and going out to dinner as well.
1946 to 1964 any day. This country is definitely not the country I grew up in and loved. This is a miserable place today with all of this PC and liberal BS.
