And you know what..the truly poor don't go to Disney or casinos or go on cruises so this will not impact them at all.
But the scammers will have to find another way to get ahold of that wad of TANF money.

The main problem with republican party is that they seem to focus very strongly on minor stuff. Take this case for example- may be there are isolated cases of what they are trying to stop but it's obvious this cannot be so common that they have to pass a bill about it. For some reason even if they can find a single case they take it very seriously and try to behave like it is very common. I mean why on earth someone who is on welfare would go and spend it on cruise? I can understand "more" might want to spend it on tobacco, alcohol etc but "cruise" come on This is really dumb.

Exactly what I would expect someone from Mississippi to say.

If anyone did a breakdown of any budget ever, they would see that the real welfare recipients are corporate. And they don't pay a dime back.

But its harder to pick on them, what with their wall of Lawyers and everyone arguing about gay marriage and welfare mothers- straw men if there ever were any.

But y'all keep on going.

You really need to read facts instead of watching Fox News. I mean, don't let that get in the way of your ignorance, since you are probably pretty firmly entrenched.

Default Food stamp ban on cruises?

More and more I think that getting elected causes serious brain damage. Here is the latest example:
Kansas to ban use of welfare on tattoos, cruises, psychics - CNN.com
There is no evidence anyone on food stamps ever tried, and how can you go on a cruise when your down and out? OK, maybe a family member paid for the cruise but expects you to use your food stamps. What! I don't think any cruise ship is even set up to accept them.
This will go down in history as another piece of ridiculous legislation, like the ban on gunpowder as a headache remedy or that you must have a flagman walking ahead of your automobile at 7 mph.

You are correct.

The Republicans sure like the drop the hammer on small fish, like welfare "cheat" or a small time criminal but when it comes to corporations cheating the IRS by keeping their money in offshore banks or contractors overcharging the Department of Defense on contracts or killing US service members by electrocuting them through faulty wiring in their showers, you don't hear a peep out of them and they look the other way or chalk it up to the cost of doing business or a misfortune of war.

Honestly, they sicken and disgust me.

The only thing more reprehensible and pathetic are these fear-ridden, intolerant, no-information voters who just hold their noses and pull the "R" level no matter how odious or contemptible the candidate so long as they have an "R" after their name and they promise to leave their guns alone, keep the gays, minorities, and women in their places, and keep the foreigners out, by any means (they perceive) as necessary.

You don't need food stamps on a cruise because the food is everywhere. Most of it you do not have to pay for. You can get food 24/7 on a cruise. You will pay for room service, and you may have to pay for drinks like coffee, tea, alcohol, but the food itself? You can gain 15 pounds on a one week cruise by stuffing your face non stop and not spend a dime.

If you can afford a cruise, you can afford to buy the coffee and tea yourself, or the person who "bought the cruise" for you can give you extra money for that coffee and tea. Far as I know, cruise or not, food stamps are not usable for alcohol.

Anyone who sees that "ban food stamps on cruises" as the state doing anything about abuse is a fool.

The result is I suffer acid reflux every day and drinking the soda keeps me from throwing up on a daily basis - most of the time. This is only going to go on another 3 months and then I can go back on my regular medication. I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to this, because besides gaining weight from the soda, I am getting very tired of the sugar (the diet sodas make me sick) and how it's making me feel. Plus there are only a couple flavors I can get, because I need to get only non-caffeinated sodas.
I would think the sodas would make your reflux worse.

Again for those blaming Kansas Republicans.

This was in a bill passed by Congress and signed by Obama in 2012.
Kansas has no choice and neither to any of the other states.

All states are MANDATED by the FedGov to restrict TANF withdrawals.
